Planning a new kitchen or renovating an old one? I am starting a new series on my channel to share tips and tricks for creating your dream kitchen, covering everything from layouts to the latest trends. Stay tuned for expert advice.

Choosing the right layout is the first step to a perfect kitchen. In this video, I explain six different kitchen types, from a straight layout for small spaces to a U-shape or island kitchen for larger rooms, helping you decide what works best for your home.

The key to an organized kitchen is a balance between deep and shallow storage. Here, I demonstrate how we use deep pantries for bulk items and clever door pockets for smaller, everyday essentials, ensuring everything has its place.

How should you plan your kitchen entrance for maximum efficiency? This video provides a practical guide on choosing between an L-shape, galley (parallel), or U-shape layout based on your room's width to optimize counter and walking space.

About this collection

In every kitchen I design, I balance deep storage for bulky items with shallow, accessible pockets for daily spices. It is not just about keeping the surface clean; it is about ensuring that everything from your heavy mixers to your tea leaves has a designated, easy-to-reach spot so your counter stays clutter-free.

A kitchen needs to work as hard as you do. When I plan a renovation, we start by looking at your available space and how you move within it. Whether it is a compact galley kitchen where every inch matters or a spacious layout with an island, the goal is efficiency based on the classic 'Work Triangle'—the path between your stove, sink, and refrigerator.

Why Material Matters

In Dehradun’s climate, durability is non-negotiable. I use Boiling Water Proof (BWP) Marine Grade Plywood for all carcasses because it resists moisture and heat, which are constant in any active kitchen. For the finish, we look at high-gloss acrylics or laminates that don't just look premium but are easy to wipe down after a busy cooking session.

Planning Your Layout

  • L-Shape: Perfect for long, narrow rooms where you want to keep the entrance clear and maximize counter length.
  • Galley (Parallel): Ideal if you have two opposing walls. It creates a highly efficient corridor, perfect for smaller apartments.
  • U-Shape: If you have a wider room, this layout gives you the maximum storage and counter space possible.

Smart Storage Hacks

I always recommend adding door pockets for daily essentials. It sounds simple, but moving small items from deep cabinets to door racks changes your workflow. We use heavy-duty Hettich or Hafele soft-close hardware, so even your heaviest drawers slide open smoothly every single time. Let’s sit down with your floor plan and figure out what layout gives you the most room to cook, experiment, and enjoy your time.
