Discipline and reality beyond the mat
i don't run a commercial studio. this is my life: the weight, the water, the silence, and the study. here is where discipline meets reality.
A small puja setup at night. Rituals are not blind obedience; they are conscious repetition and reminders of rhythm.
A neon-lit statue of Shiva. His absence feels intentional, like he left a trace of awareness behind.
Walking down a long, ornate hallway in a palace in India. A moment of reflection on history and presence.
Yoga is not always enough for physical fitness. I incorporate weight resistance training to build muscle, boost metabolism, and strengthen joints. It also deepens my asana practice.
Swimming is another essential skill. I almost drowned in this very pool as a child. Now, I use it to build cardiovascular health and as an alternative to asana when dealing with injuries.
A moment of transparency. I fell off my practice, started drinking and eating meat again, and felt the effects. This is my return to meditation after six months, embracing the balance without pretending to be perfect.
A moment of peace with my dog. If you're angry, you're in the past. If you're fearful, you're in the future. If you're at peace, you're in the present.
Chanting the Purnamadah mantra by a river in Meghalaya. A reflection on why conflict exists when all teachings point toward being a good human. We are one civilization.
A reminder that opinions are worthless. Nobody cares. Focus on facts and experience, not just what you think.
The universe provides for those who put in the work. If your life is not where you want it to be, stop making excuses, stop playing the victim, and work harder.
About Additional Work & Life
people assume yoga is only about mats and incense. i train with weights, i swim, and i confront my own contradictions daily because the body needs raw resistance to grow. this collection is a record of how i keep my mind sharp and my practice grounded outside of a traditional classroom.
my practice isn't a neat, packaged product. if you see me lifting weights or swimming, it isn't a deviation from yoga, it is an extension of it. true vitality requires a body that is strong enough to hold the weight of your own existence.
why i integrate weight training and yoga
yoga asana is excellent for mobility and mindfulness, but it is not a complete fitness system. when you isolate yourself to just one modality, you stagnate. i use weight resistance training to strengthen joints, boost metabolic health, and build the physical fortitude needed to handle the intensity of deep, traditional hatha practice. when you return to your mat after a heavy session, your asana practice deepens because your body is finally capable of sustaining the required posture.
the role of environment and nature
my work is heavily influenced by my roots in meghalaya and my time in bengaluru. nature is not a backdrop; it is a mirror. whether i am chanting by a river or training in a gym, the environment serves as a constant reminder that human ego is fragile. rituals, like the simple act of a puja or the consistency of a morning workout, are not blind obedience. they are conscious repetitions that anchor you in the present moment. if you are looking for someone to sell you a fantasy, you will not find it here. you will find tools to build inner sovereignty, to confront your shadow, and to stop making excuses for why your life is not where you want it to be. this is not about comfort. this is about capability.
