I look beyond the city skyline to capture the stars, planets, and moon. It is a technical process, but the results reveal a quiet side of Mumbai that most miss.

Shooting the night sky in a city like Mumbai requires patience and specific planning to cut through light pollution. I use long exposure techniques and image stacking to pull details out of the darkness, whether it is a rare planetary alignment or the Milky Way. If you are looking to document a specific celestial event or want high-resolution night shots of your property or landscape, the key is choosing the right night and waiting for the right atmospheric conditions.
Capturing the night sky is not just about pointing a camera upward. In a dense urban environment like Mumbai, light pollution is the biggest hurdle. My approach involves using long exposure settings to let in enough light without washing out the image, and sometimes stacking hundreds of individual frames to track the Earth's rotation for star trails.
Timing is the most critical element of my process. Whether it is a crescent moon rising over a skyscraper like the Palais Royale or a rare conjunction of Jupiter and Venus, I plan these shoots around astronomical calendars and weather reports. I also apply these techniques to architectural night photography, balancing the ambient light of the city with the darker sky above to create depth.
