Creating a lounge area is about finding that balance between a high-end look and actual guest comfort. When I set up seating for a Mumbai wedding, I always consider the venue architecture first. At places like the RWITC, for instance, I use the natural greenery and existing structures to build pockets that feel intimate rather than sparse.
I do not just place chairs. I mix textures to tell a story. Here is how I approach the lounge design:
- Defining the zone: I use rugs, floor lamps, and side tables to mark out lounge areas, giving them a distinct identity within the larger space.
- Texture contrast: I pair soft fabrics like velvet or linen with solid materials like wood or metal, which helps the furniture pop in photos and feel rich to the touch.
