From the discipline of the classroom to the brilliance of the stage, watch my disciples bring the stories and techniques of Bharatanatyam to life.

My disciple, Sudipta Chakraborty, a fellow Kalakshetra alumna, captured in a moment of pure grace during her performance at the India International Centre. Her dedication to the art form shines through in every movement.

A powerful scene from 'Antariksha Sanchar', where my students and I enact the sequence of Surya and his celestial horses. This production combined classical dance with digital projections, telling an ancient story in a modern way.

A dynamic moment on stage with my wonderful students during a group performance. The synchronicity and collective energy of a group choreography is a beautiful expression of our shared passion for dance.

An invitation to 'Nrityasamarpanam', a Bharatanatyam recital by my disciples at Triveni Kala Sangam. These events are a culmination of months of hard work and an opportunity for the students to share their art with a live audience.

For Children's Day, we reimagined the classic tale of 'Snow White' as 'Himshweta', a production by the children, for the children. This poster announced our unique adaptation in a traditional Indian dance style.

This is the invitation for 'Nadopasana', a production based on Divya Nama Sankeertanam, or meditation through music. The concept and choreography trace a devotee's spiritual journey, performed by myself and my disciples.

A proud moment with my disciple Sudipta Chakraborty and vocalist Venkatesh after her successful concert. It is a privilege to provide Nattuvangam and support my students as they take the stage.

The complete ensemble on stage after a memorable performance at the India International Centre. I am pictured here with my disciple Sudipta and the talented accompanying artists who brought the music to life.

A closer look at the wonderful team of artists who supported my disciple's recital. The synergy between the dancer and the musicians is essential for a truly captivating performance.

My disciples and I, along with esteemed guests, after a special performance for the National Day ceremony of the Embassy of Chile. The presentation was a cultural exchange inspired by our collaboration with a Chilean dance troupe.

About From Practice to Performance: Student Showcases

When you see these students on stage, you are witnessing years of discipline. Behind every performance is a rigorous process—from mastering the basic Adavus at Triveni Kala Sangam to the final stage rehearsals where we coordinate music, costume, and expression. It is a transformation from student to artist that requires patience, and it is a privilege to guide them through this journey.

The Journey to the Stage

Performance is the ultimate classroom. While my classes at Triveni Kala Sangam focus on the technical rigour of the Kalakshetra style—posture, rhythm, and Abhinaya—the stage is where the student truly internalizes the art form. Preparing for an Arangetram or a group production like Nadopasana is not just about memorizing choreography; it is about developing the stamina, grace, and presence required to hold an audience’s attention.

Why Performance Matters

In our tradition, a dancer’s education is incomplete without public exposure. My students regularly perform in varied settings—from intimate recitals at Mandi House to complex multimedia productions involving digital projections and live orchestras. These showcases, including specialized adaptations like Himshweta (my retelling of Snow White), encourage students to explore classical grammar while engaging with contemporary storytelling.

What to Expect at a Showcase

When my disciples perform, you will see the culmination of the Guru-Shishya bond. The process involves:

  • Technical Training: Mastery of Mudras, Talam, and footwork.
  • Orchestral Coordination: Learning to synchronize movements with live musicians, including Nattuvangam, Mridangam, and Violin.
  • Stagecraft: Understanding lighting, spacing, and the narrative flow of a production.

Whether you are a prospective student looking for a path to the stage or an organizer interested in classical productions, these galleries reflect the dedication of my students and the depth of our training.
