Iconic Portraits and Cinematic Photography
A glimpse into my world, where every frame seeks the raw emotion and timeless character beneath the surface.
This moment is one of the highlights of my career. To hear Shah Rukh Khan speak about what this photograph with Dilip Kumar and Amitabh Bachchan meant to him is truly humbling. It reminds me that my goal has always been to be in the presence of greatness and capture a piece of history.
Photographing a legend like Amitabh Bachchan is about capturing an aura. For this portrait, I wanted a classic, suave feel that reflects his iconic status. The direct gaze and formal attire create a timeless image that is both powerful and personal.
This is raw energy. For the Thums Up campaign, I wanted to capture the fierce determination of boxer Nikhat Zareen. Using stark black and white and high-contrast lighting, we focused on the intensity in her expression, creating a portrait that is all about strength and spirit.
The ever gracious Mrs. Nita Ambani. For her Sangeet look, we created an atmosphere of elegance and celebration. The lighting was designed to complement the vibrant Falguni Shane Peacock outfit and the exquisite diamond jewelry, resulting in a portrait that is both grand and graceful.
There is a special story in family portraits. Shooting with Mahesh Babu and his daughter Sitara for PMJ Jewels was about capturing their beautiful, natural bond. The setting is regal, but the moment is a simple, honest connection between a father and daughter.
Fashion is a playground of color and form. In this campaign shoot with Alia Bhatt, we used bold, contrasting colors to create a vibrant and modern look. The slicked-back hair and sharp styling give the portrait a high-fashion, graphic quality that really stands out.
This image is from my "Sculptured Portraits" series, where I explore the intersection of art and photography. The concept was to treat the subject like a classical sculpture, using the milky bath to create texture and the exquisite jewelry as the focal point. It's about creating a timeless piece of art.
About this collection
When we shoot, we do not guess. We use real-time tethering, which means you see the exact image on a professional calibrated monitor as I click the shutter. It is a collaborative rhythm where we adjust angles, lighting, and expressions together until the shot is precisely what we both envisioned.
Photography is rarely about the camera. It is about the dialogue between the subject and the lens. My approach is rooted in the belief that less is more. Whether we are in my Lower Parel studio or at a location, I strip away the noise to let the emotion and shadow do the talking.
My process is a collective effort. I bring in the right makeup artists, hair stylists, and fashion experts because a great image is a labour of love from the entire team. We utilize high-end medium format equipment, such as the Fujifilm GFX series, to ensure that the texture, skin tones, and details remain true to life. This technical precision is what allows us to produce editorial-grade results that stand the test of time, rather than fleeting social media trends.
For those interested in personal portraits, we move beyond just capturing a likeness. We look for the story. We define a concept, whether it is a classic black and white character study or a vibrant, high-fashion editorial. The goal is always to create a piece of art that feels as honest as it is cinematic. Every shoot is an adventure, and my role is to ensure the environment is comfortable enough for you to be your true self.
