Wrestler's Mindset: Building Discipline and Character
Wrestling is as much about the mind as it is about the body. At Jai Hanuman Kusti Akhada, we build the mental grit to handle life’s challenges, not just the competition.
A strong body needs a calm mind. After every intense 'talim' session, we practice meditation to cool down, focus our thoughts, and build mental discipline.
I believe in learning from real-life heroes. Here, Police Sub-Inspector Devidas Damale visits our Akhada to share his experiences and motivate our young wrestlers about the importance of fitness and discipline in life.
About Manas: The Wrestler's Mindset
After every intense session in the 'lal mati' (red soil), we don't just leave. We sit, we meditate, and we practice shantata (calmness). This cooldown isn't just for recovery; it is for teaching our Pailwans how to switch off and focus. We also invite guests like Police Sub-Inspector Devidas Damale to speak. They tell our students that while not everyone will win a state medal, the discipline you build here—the ability to push through exhaustion—is the real asset that helps you in any career you choose.
Kusti is a test of Manas (mind). In our Sanpada facility, we treat training as a lifestyle. The physical drills—sapate, rope climbing, and mat sparring—are only half the journey. The other half is mental. We structure our days to foster resilience. Whether it is a young student struggling with concentration or a teenager preparing for competitive wrestling, we believe in the philosophy: 'वाढण्याआधी रुजाव लागतं आणि चमकण्याआधी झिजाव लागतं' (You have to take root before you grow, and you have to wear yourself out before you shine).
We don't just coach wrestling; we build family. From strict diet charts provided to parents to the mentorship of Vastaad Sandip Dalavi, every element is designed to produce individuals who are physically strong and mentally upright. When you join our akhada, you are not just signing up for a sport; you are joining a community where every Pailwan supports the other. We maintain a strict discipline, including a focus on respectful behavior towards seniors and peers. This is how we ensure that the values of the akhada remain strong, creating disciplined citizens, not just wrestlers.
Jai Hanuman Kusti Akhada
I am Sandip Dalavi, and I believe wrestling is jivan (life). I have been coaching here since 2018, not just to create champions, but to build good humans. Whether you are a kid starting out or a youth looking for direction, my akhada is your family.
