Creative Bokeh and Abstract Nature Photography
Turning the mundane into art with light, silhouette, and focus. I capture the nature you don’t usually see.
A single exposure of a Brown Sailor Spider against out-of-focus fairy lights. The composition uses the bokeh circles as a graphic element, creating a stage for the spider's silhouette.
By manually adjusting the focus, I was able to split the image of a single Brown Sailor Spider into three distinct silhouettes against the bokeh, creating this surreal, abstract effect in a single exposure.
Another shot of a Brown Sailor Spider, which I call "Into the Spider-verse." The large, warm bokeh circles create a dramatic backdrop. If you look closely, you can see it has caught a meal in its mandibles.
A silhouette of a spider against the colorful bokeh of Diwali lights. This image captures the festive atmosphere by using the out-of-focus lights to create a vibrant, celebratory background for a tiny subject.
A different composition of the Diwali spider, with a more horizontal arrangement of the bokeh. The colors and light create a warm and magical feeling, turning a simple spider into a festive subject.
A close-up of the spider against the Diwali bokeh. This shot creates a strong silhouette against a single large orb of light, resulting in a bold and graphic composition.
A silhouette of a plumeria flower against what looks like the setting sun. This is actually a creative shot using a light source behind the flower to create a perfect, glowing orb and a sharp silhouette.
A little different from my usual wildlife photos, this is a minimalist landscape of a sunset in Singapore. The image focuses on the layers of the hills in silhouette and the powerful shape of the sun dipping behind the clouds.
About Creative Bokeh & Abstract Light
Most of these shots, especially the spider-verse series, actually happen right on my Gurgaon terrace. It isn't about expensive gear. It’s about waiting for the right light and knowing when to push your focus ring to get those surreal, abstract shapes.
Nature photography doesn't always need a tiger in the frame. Sometimes, the best subjects are right outside your door—like a sailor spider or a plumeria flower. I love using fairy lights or sunset gradients to turn these common subjects into something that feels like a painting.
The Process Behind the Bokeh
My creative approach uses the camera to experiment with reality. Whether it is using in-camera double exposure to blend predator and prey, or manually shifting focus to split a spider into three distinct silhouettes, I am always testing the limits of my Canon 80D and 150-600mm setup. It’s a mix of patience and physics. When I shoot against Diwali lights or the setting sun, I am looking for that rim light to sculpt the subject, creating a high-contrast, moody aesthetic that standard wildlife photography often misses.
Fine Art for Your Space
I offer these shots as archival-grade fine art prints, not just digital files.
- Material: I use 100% Cotton Rag or matte poly-cotton canvas for that deep, rich look.
- Authenticity: Every print is hand-signed by me, verifying it as an authentic piece of my work.
- Presentation: My gallery-framed pieces use solid teak or pine wood, designed to fit into modern home and office spaces.
If you have a specific animal in mind or want a custom pet portrait session, I also host 4 to 8-hour field sessions in local spots like the Biodiversity Parks. Let’s talk if you want a piece of nature’s quiet drama for your wall.

I’m Ishaan, and I turn common backyard nature into fine art by playing with light and focus. If you’re looking for a piece of the wild for your wall or want to learn how to capture these abstract shots yourself, let's talk.
