About Creative & Conceptual Portraits
These sessions move away from standard posing. We use deliberate techniques like motion blur, candle-lit depth, or high-contrast red lighting to externalize a specific mood. Before we begin, we talk about the story you want to tell, whether it is raw vulnerability or quiet strength, and I build the lighting and conceptual setup specifically around that narrative.
Conceptual portraiture is less about capturing what you look like and more about expressing who you are in a specific moment. My work here focuses on 'Silent Flamboyance,' a philosophy that prioritizes depth and presence over traditional perfection.
The Process
Every shoot begins with a conversation. We discuss the mood you want to evoke. Are we exploring 'Noir Mystery,' or do you need something softer? For these sessions, I bring in specialized gear—prisms, fabrics, and advanced lighting setups—to distort and shape the environment around you.
Experimental Techniques
- Motion Blur: We use slow shutter speeds to introduce movement, symbolizing a fleeting feeling or a shifting identity.
- Cinematic Lighting: I manipulate colored gels and snoots to paint with light, creating dramatic shadows that define the contours of your expression.
- Conceptual Props: Candles, flowers, and textures are used to ground the portrait in a tangible reality, giving the viewer a visual anchor.
Whether you are an artist needing an editorial portfolio or an individual wanting to see yourself through a different lens, these shoots provide a space to play. I work primarily out of my studio in HSR Layout, Bengaluru, but I frequently travel for conceptual projects that require a specific location to complete the story.
