About Kids Karate Program
We follow WKF standards in every session, but it is not just about memorizing forms. We spend the first 20 minutes of every class on high-intensity agility ladder drills, ensuring your child develops the balance and core power required for proper karate techniques, rather than just learning stiff, static movements.
Our Approach to Karate
Martial arts at iPPON is about building a foundation that lasts. We teach Kenyu Ryu Karate, a style that balances deep-rooted tradition with the practicalities of modern self-defense. Your child will not just learn how to throw a punch, they will learn the mechanics behind the move.
Training is split into three core areas:
- Kihon: We start with the basics. Stances, punches, and blocks must be precise before we move on. This builds the muscle memory and discipline required for more advanced work.
- Kata: This is where focus and balance come in. These traditional forms teach students how to control their body and maintain a calm mind under pressure.
- Kumite: For those ready to test their skills, we introduce controlled sparring. We emphasize technique and safety, ensuring kids learn how to defend themselves while respecting their opponents.
The iPPON Difference in HSR
We keep our batch sizes small, with approximately 15 students per coach. This ensures that every child receives direct correction on their form and posture. Whether your child is a complete beginner or looking to progress through belt gradings, our instructors monitor their development closely.
We believe in the power of sweat. Every class is an hour long, held on 20mm EVA puzzle mats to keep training safe while maintaining a rugged, focused environment. We do not use air conditioning, as we believe training in a fan-cooled space helps build the endurance and grit necessary for serious martial artists.
