The Journey & The Wins
From practicing in cyber cafes to standing on international stages, this is my grind. These moments define why I never stopped.
A clip from the 'Why We Dance' documentary that told a part of my story. It talks about my struggles, my family, and how dance became my path.
This is how my journey started. From watching dance on TV and practicing in cyber cafes to deciding to pursue it as a career against all odds.
The turning point. I discovered the underground hip-hop scene and it felt like an escape. I started traveling, learning, and found my emotional connection to hip-hop music.
I took it upon myself to help build the northern hip-hop freestyle scene. I organized the first 1v1 hip-hop battle in Delhi in 2017, and from there, I never stopped dancing or competing.
When I started, the community was smaller but the passion was huge. I have unforgettable memories of the hunger and dedication from those early days.
My advice to the community: be yourself, believe in yourself, and be consistent. Don't forget why you started dancing. For me, it's my escape.
A look at some of the trophies and plaques I've won. These are for 'The Battleground' Vol. 4 winner and a battle guest appearance.
Another trophy, this one for being the runner up in a 1 on 1 hip-hop battle at 'Advancement The Street Jam'. Every competition is a learning experience.
The Top 16 lineup for the Red Bull Dance Your Style National Final. It's an honor to be listed among some of the best dancers in India.
A look back at the craziness of last year's 'High on Hip Hop' event. I won the 2v2 category with my partner. Let's see who takes the title this year.
About The Journey & The Wins
Winning a battle isn't just about the trophy on my shelf. It is about the discipline of training I put in the night before. I treat my dance practice like a job because, for me, it was never a hobby. It was my only escape. If you are looking to understand the real grind behind the stage presence, let's talk about how to build your own discipline.
When I started, there were no studios in Delhi to learn real Hip-Hop. I spent my school days working small jobs to afford cyber cafes just to watch dance videos, trying to mimic what I saw. That hunger did not go away. I traveled to cities like Bangalore and Hyderabad for workshops because the scene in the North was non-existent. I had to build it myself.
Organizing the first 1v1 Hip-Hop battle in Delhi back in 2017 taught me that the community only grows if you show up. Whether it is competing in Red Bull Dance Your Style or judging local jams, the goal remains the same: fighting my own overthinking.
Many people see the podium finishes, but they do not see the years spent drilling basic grooves while working a job to support my family. I do not believe in talent as much as I believe in showing up when you do not feel like it. Monday is for grooves, Tuesday is for footwork. My classes are not just about learning steps; they are about teaching you how to listen to the music, dig for tracks, and develop a mindset that keeps you standing even when things get heavy.
