My Story: How I Transformed Struggle into Art
Dance saved my life. This is the story behind my steps, my battles, and the perspective I bring to the floor today.
A clip from the 'Why We Dance' documentary that featured my story. It touches on the struggles my family and I faced and how dance became my path forward.
This shares the beginning of my journey. From a young age, dance was natural for me, but pursuing it as a career was a difficult path due to my family's financial situation.
This part of my story covers my transition from Bollywood dance to the underground scene. The day I heard Hip-Hop music in a battle, it felt like I was liberated.
I took it upon myself to help build the northern Hip-Hop freestyle scene. Dance has given me an identity and saved my life, and I will continue to dance and build the community until my last breath.
When I started, the community was smaller, but the passion was off the charts. The hunger and dedication from back then are memories that still fuel me today.
My advice to the community is simple: be yourself, be consistent, and never forget why you started dancing. For me, it's my escape. Find your reason and enjoy the process.
About My Journey & Philosophy
When I judge a battle, I am not just looking at your footwork. I am looking for your 'why.' Because I fought to make this my life, I know the difference between someone just doing steps and someone dancing because they have to. If you want a judge or a mentor who sees the raw story behind the performance, that is the perspective I bring to your event.
Dance did not just give me a career. It saved my life. Growing up, dance was my escape from financial stress and the overthinking that used to consume me. When I switched from Bollywood to the underground hip-hop scene, it felt like I was liberated. That hunger to learn is what drove me to travel across India, training, competing, and eventually helping build the hip-hop freestyle community in the north.
My approach to dance is built on discipline. I do not believe in shortcuts. My training style is structured because I believe discipline is the foundation of freedom—I have 'Monday grooves' and 'Tuesday footwork' days for a reason. I carry this exact mindset into every judging panel and workshop.
When I am hired for an event in Delhi NCR, I do not just sit there and hand out scores. I look for musicality. I look for the texture in your movement. Because I also work as a DJ, I listen to the music layers differently than most. I am looking for dancers who can 'kill' the beat and hold their own in a cypher. Whether it is an all-style battle or a specific hip-hop category, I prioritize dancers who understand the culture and show originality over those who just copy trending moves. If you want someone who takes the responsibility of judging seriously and understands what it takes to survive on the battle floor, let's connect.
