Hip-Hop Dance Judge & Event Specialist
When I am on the judge's panel, I am not just looking for clean moves. I am searching for your story, your musicality, and that raw energy that defines hip-hop.
This is what it's all about. The energy of the crowd, the beat dropping, and two dancers telling their story on the floor. This moment at the Red Bull Dance Your Style World Final is a perfect example of the high-stakes, high-passion battles I love to be a part of, both as a competitor and a judge.
Being part of the Red Bull Dance Your Style National Final is always an honor. Events like these are the pinnacle of the street dance scene in India, and I bring that same level of expectation and experience to every competition I judge.
People often ask why my style is so aggressive. For me, dance is therapy. I channel all my past struggles and pain into my art. When I judge, I'm not just looking for clean moves; I'm looking for that raw expression and the story you're fighting to tell.
This moment, being named champion by the legendary Loose Joint, was about more than just a win. It was a validation of my style and my consistency. As a judge, I respect and recognize the years of dedication it takes to reach this level.
Whether it's a massive international stage or a raw local jam like 'Battle In Town', the vibe is everything. I feel the energy of the cypher and look for dancers who can connect with the music and the moment, no matter the setting.
My skills as a DJ are deeply connected to my dancing and judging. Understanding music structure from a DJ's perspective helps me analyze a dancer's musicality on a much deeper level. It's all about how you interpret the rhythm and make it your own.
In this interview, I break down my approach to training and how I see the connection between being a dancer and a DJ. I believe in discipline and a structured approach, dividing my days to focus on specific skills like grooves or footwork. This is the mindset I bring to judging.
At the end of the day, it's about the joy of the dance. This smile is for the love of the music, the community, and the process. When I'm on the panel, I want to see that you're enjoying it too.
About Featured
I bring a dual perspective to the judging panel that most judges miss. Because I am a DJ who digs for tracks and a dancer who understands musicality, I do not just judge your footwork. I listen to the music the way you should be dancing to it. If you are off-beat, you are penalized, but if you can interpret the texture of the track and make the music your own, you have my attention. I am looking for that raw connection between your movement and the rhythm, not just a rehearsed set.
My work as a judge is about maintaining the culture. Whether it is a 1v1 Hip-Hop battle or an All-Styles event, I apply strict protocols focused on foundation and originality.
My Judging Approach
- Musicality & Beat-Killing: I evaluate how you interact with the music. If you miss the drops or ignore the layers in the track, it shows in the scoring.
- Consistency & Discipline: Having a background in competitive battles, I value dancers who stay consistent through every round, from qualifiers to the finals.
- Battle Psychology: I help manage the floor. I provide verbal feedback for finalists to help the scene grow and to ensure the crowd understands the decision.
Why Book Me?
I do not just show up. I bring a DJ's ear to the judging table. This helps me analyze dancers who are actually listening to the rhythm versus those just performing moves.
I offer two main ways to engage me:
- Standard Judging: A 5-hour engagement covering one specific style, from auditions to the final bracket. Perfect for regional battles.
- Head Judge & Showcase: An 8-hour, full-day commitment where I handle complex, multi-category events and open the finals with a signature performance to set the energy.
If you are organizing a jam or a workshop, I also offer a 'Battle Tactics' add-on. We can spend 90 minutes breaking down groove mechanics and musicality, giving your participants real value beyond just the competition. If you want a judge who actually knows the roots, let's connect.
Invoker
I'm Rahul, mostly known as Invoker. Dance is therapy for me and my way of fighting overthinking, so I bring that same intensity to every panel I judge. I don't believe in just sitting there and watching; I'm here to ensure the culture stays real and the right dancers get recognized.
