My Interior Design Process: From Site to Handover
Designing a home in Mumbai is about more than aesthetics; it is about making every square foot count. Here is how I manage the journey from our first site visit to the final handover.
A look at a site in Vikhroli that is nearing completion. Here you can see the furniture wrapped for protection and the final touches being applied to the wall paneling. I personally oversee this stage to ensure quality.
The "final touch" phase is where the magic happens. This video shows glimpses of a project coming together, from the installation of the study table and pooja mandir to the finishing of the kitchen and wardrobes.
This project featuring a wall-mounted Murphy bed is almost ready for handover. I always ensure every mechanism works perfectly and the finishing is up to the mark before delivering the home to my clients.
About My Process: From Site to Handover
The most critical part of my process is the final check before we apply laminates. Once the sunmica is laid, making changes is nearly impossible. I spend hours double-checking measurements, electrical points, and furniture alignment with you before a single sheet of laminate is cut, ensuring we get the perfect finish the first time.
How I Manage Your Home Project
My approach to interior design is built on one core belief: being present. I do not just design on paper and leave the execution to others. I am involved in every stage, from the initial sketch to the final cleaning.
1. The Initial Site Visit
Everything starts at your home. I need to see your space, understand how the light falls, where the beams are, and most importantly, how your family actually uses the rooms. We discuss your needs, whether it is a space-saving Murphy bed or a Vastu-compliant mandir, right there in the room.
2. Planning and Drawings
Once I have the measurements, I prepare the carpentry drawings. We sit together and finalize these. I explain how the space will work, where the hidden storage will go, and how the modular units will fit. This is the stage where we make all our decisions so the construction phase remains stress-free.
3. Execution with Honesty
I am a firm believer in pramanikpane kaam karto (working honestly). During the execution, I oversee the carpentry, plumbing, and electrical work. If there are any delays due to material sourcing, I will tell you immediately. I prefer keeping you in the loop rather than promising a date I cannot keep.
4. The Final Handover
This is my favorite part. The furniture is installed, the finish is checked, and the site is cleared. When I hand over the keys and see a client, or even their kids, genuinely happy with the result, that is my true reward. I am just a medium here; it is your dream home we are building together.
Whether you are renovating a 1BHK in Vikhroli or planning a full design for a 3BHK in Bhandup, my focus remains on quality, utility, and a finish that lasts.
