Unlike basic obedience, this level of training demands serious drive management and handler commitment. In our sessions, we focus on the 'out' command and grip development using safe, regulated wedges or sleeves. You are not just watching from the sidelines; you are the one holding the leash, learning to read your dog’s nerves, energy, and engagement in real-time.

Training a dog for sports like PSA is not about creating aggression. It is the opposite. It is about ultimate control, engagement, and clear communication under high-pressure situations. When your dog understands the game, they show confidence rather than fear or anxiety.

Why Sport and Protection Work?

This training is for those who want to go beyond 'sit' and 'stay'. It involves:

• Drive Building: We tap into your dog's natural instincts and shape them into focused work. Whether it is prey drive for a Belgian Malinois or defense drive for a GSD, we refine it.
• The Decoy Factor: As a certified PSA decoy, I play the role of the agitator. I know exactly how to test a dog's nerve safely so you can see how they react in a high-intensity environment.
• Handler Mechanics: You learn to handle your dog during agitation. This is the hardest part for most owners—staying calm while your dog is working. You learn footwork, leash tension, and timing your commands.

The 'Out' and Grip Mechanics

One of the most critical skills we practice is the 'Out' command. It must be instant. We use tugs, wedges, and full protection sleeves to teach the dog to grip cleanly and release immediately upon your verbal cue. No matter how high the drive, the dog learns that your command is law.

My Approach to Safety

Everything we do is based on fairness. If a dog is not ready for a sleeve, we build them up with tugs first. If a dog lacks focus, we work on obedience routines like figure-8 heeling and motion exercises. My goal is to produce a dog that is stable, strong, and smart.
