Puppy First Steps Training in Delhi NCR
The first few months are critical for a puppy's development. I help you set the ground rules early, building a bond based on trust, structure, and positive reinforcement.
Starting puppies off right is crucial. This Golden Retriever puppy is learning the 'place' command, which teaches them to go to a designated spot and relax. It's an essential skill for managing a puppy's energy and creating a calm household.
Max, a young Labrador, happily enters his crate on command. Crate training is a fundamental part of puppy-hood, helping with house training and creating a secure resting place.
This 60-day-old Labrador puppy is learning the 'place' command on his mat. This simple behavior gives the dog a designated spot to settle, which is invaluable for home management.
This German Shepherd puppy is learning through a behavior shaping game with a box. This method encourages the puppy to think and problem-solve, building confidence and a love for training.
A young Belgian Malinois puppy learns the 'down' command by being guided into a box. This technique, called behavior shaping, makes learning natural and fun for the pup.
My home-bred Belgian Malinois female, Daina, learns to interact with a box. This is an early step in shaping complex behaviors for sport or advanced obedience.
It's never too early to start. CoCo, a 60-day-old Lhasa Apso puppy, learns his very first 'down' command using positive reinforcement and clear guidance.
About Puppy First Steps
The 'place' command is one of the first things I teach, and it is a game-changer for new puppy parents. It is not just a trick; it is a way to teach your puppy to settle on a mat or bed while you are busy, cooking, or managing guests. By creating this calm zone, you stop the constant jumping and chaos, giving your puppy a clear spot to relax while you maintain control of your home.
Training a puppy is about teaching them how to live in your world. Many new parents think it is all about teaching tricks, but the real work is about shaping their behaviour and impulse control from day one. Whether it is a Golden Retriever learning to settle or a German Shepherd puppy solving a puzzle, the goal remains the same: a confident dog and a capable handler.
Why Start Early?
Puppies are like sponges. They absorb everything, good and bad. If you let them jump on you now because it is cute, you will have a 30kg dog doing it later. My sessions focus on:
- Crate Training: This is essential for safety and potty training. I show you how to turn the crate into a secure 'den' so your puppy wants to go inside, rather than feeling trapped.
- Leash Mechanics: Stop the pulling before it becomes a habit. We practice loose-leash walking even in low-distraction environments to build focus.
- Marker Training: You will learn to use markers like 'Yes' or a clicker to communicate exactly when your puppy does the right thing. This makes learning much faster.
- Communication: We mix English and German commands like 'Platz' (down) if that is what your dog responds to best. The language matters less than the consistency.
We are a Team
I do not just train your dog; I coach you. You are the handler, and I am there to guide your footwork, timing, and commands. If you are struggling with a puppy that nips, barks, or forgets their manners, we fix it through positive reinforcement. There will be plenty of 'Shabash!' and 'Good boy!' moments, because happy dogs learn fast. Let us build that foundation together.
