Practical Illusion and Magic Consulting for Creative Projects
I don't rely on CGI. I build practical, physics-defying effects that happen right in front of your eyes or your camera. Here is a look at some of my favorite projects where I’ve bent reality for film, ads, and live events.
This is what I love to do, create moments of pure wonder. Here, I'm playing with a bit of levitation in the snow. My consulting work is all about creating practical effects like this that look amazing on camera and leave people asking, "How did that even happen?".
This is a still from a commercial I consulted on for HDFC Life. The challenge was to make an actor levitate from a padmasana pose, and we designed a practical illusion to make it happen right there on set. No camera tricks, just pure, engineered magic.
Sometimes, the most powerful illusions are the simplest. I love exploring how everyday things like light and shadow can be used to bend reality. This piece, which I call 'Nizhal' (shadow), is an example of creating a magical effect with minimal elements.
Finding the perfect 'santulan' or balance is at the heart of every illusion. This is a concept I've been working on, balancing ordinary matchsticks in a way that seems impossible. It's a reminder that so much of magic is about patience, precision, and a deep understanding of physics.
Magic can be a powerful tool for brands. For this project with RG Foods, I created a custom card effect to reveal their brand in a surprising and memorable way. This is a great example of how I can design a unique illusion specifically for your product launch or marketing campaign.

When I consult on an ad or film, I am not just suggesting a trick. I am figuring out how to make a practical effect work within your production budget and timeline. For example, the levitation effect for the HDFC Life ad was not done in post-production. We engineered the rig and coached the actor to make it look flawless on the day of the shoot. That is the level of detail I bring to every project, ensuring you get the wow factor without the complications of heavy CGI.
The most common question I get is whether these effects are camera tricks. The answer is almost always no. My work focuses on practical illusion design, creating tactile, real-world magic that does not just look good on a screen, but feels grounded and tangible.
