The Story Behind Hues of Memories

Behind every piece of eco-resin decor and hand-poured candle, there is a journey of leaving a corporate desk to chase a creative dream from my home studio.

A little introduction for my new followers! My name is Swati, and this video shares a bit about my journey from starting Hues of Memories as a side hustle in 2016 to running it full-time from my home studio in Bangalore.

Part 3 of my "Passion to Profession" story. I talk about quitting my job in 2019, the initial challenges, and the moment I realized my business could be a full-time reality, right before COVID-19 changed everything.

Continuing my story, I share the reasons behind my decision to leave my job. It was a mix of a toxic work environment and a desire for a better life, supported by my husband, Utkarsh.

Running a handmade business single-handedly is a journey I cherish. Every order brings a smile to my face and helps me move closer to my dream of expanding and growing my team.

My parents didn't understand my choice to leave my job at first, but they've become my biggest supporters. My dad even said he'd help me with my business when he retires, and that vision keeps me going.

Small business math: quitting a 9-to-5 to work a million hours for yourself. This video shares some of the real challenges and lessons I've learned since starting my own business.

From a corporate career to a mompreneur. This is me, Swati. I'm a mom to my son Aariv, a homemaker, and the artist behind every piece you see, chasing my dream of having my own studio.

About this collection

Every piece you see here is a reflection of my journey, from my first handmade greeting card to the eco-resin studio I run today. My work is not just about home decor, it is about creating items that carry a bit of my soul. Whether you are looking for a personalized gift or a new statement piece for your vanity, I put the same love and attention into every pour and polish, just like I do for my own home.

From Corporate to Colors

My artistic journey began in 2014, and what started as a side hustle alongside a corporate job has now become my full-time reality. In 2019, I made the big leap to quit my job and focus entirely on Hues of Memories. It was not a perfectly planned move, but it was the right one.

The 'Why' Behind the Work

I believe that handmade products should be honest. When I work with eco-resin, I am not just creating a shape; I am choosing a water-based, non-toxic material that is safer for your home and the planet. You will find tiny, unique imperfections in my work, and that is intentional. Handmade hai, toh thoda raw feel aata hai (Because it is handmade, it has a raw, honest feel).

My Home Studio Process

Everything happens right here in my Bangalore studio. From mixing pigments for a marble effect to carefully sanding down edges so they are smooth to the touch, the process is labor-intensive but deeply satisfying. I am often juggling mom-life with business, so when you support my work, you are supporting a dream built one order at a time.

I love connecting with people who appreciate the effort behind a product. If you have a vision for a custom hamper or need a specific color palette for your trinket trays, let's chat. I am always happy to help you bring an idea to life.
