Designing Intimate and Relaxing Home Spaces
These are the corners where you actually live. We design reading nooks, dining areas, and terraces that feel like a personal retreat, blending your comfort with our signature style.
This family lounge in our Chennai project was designed as a retreat. A large window frames the view of the trees outside, blurring the boundary between inside and out. The sculptural green leather chair provides a perfect spot for stillness and reading.
A dining area designed for graceful gatherings. The space features plush, custom-upholstered chairs, a dark tabletop for contrast, and a delicate crystal chandelier that blooms overhead, creating an elegant setting for shared meals.
A sublime living space where large glass windows open up to lush greenery, creating a serene, nature-inspired haven. We used a mix of plush textures, earthy tones, and curated art to create a room that feels both luxurious and warm.
This balcony is designed as a private outdoor retreat. The space features comfortable seating, a wood-paneled soffit that adds warmth, and a glass railing that ensures an unobstructed view of the surrounding greenery.
A visualization of a serene rooftop escape. We designed this terrace with stylish patterned flooring, comfortable modern furniture, and lush plantings, including vibrant bougainvillea, to create a perfect setting for unwinding against a sunset sky.
This concept for an alfresco dining area combines elegance with an outdoor setting. A glass roof allows for dining under the stars, while a fully stocked bar, ambient lighting, and sophisticated decor create a refined atmosphere for any gathering.
About Curated Interior Spaces
When we design these smaller, private zones, we focus on material layering to create depth. For instance, in our Chennai project, we paired raw, textured stone with soft, plush leather to make the room feel grounded yet cozy, ensuring the space does not feel like a sterile showroom but a place you actually want to sit in.
The challenge with smaller spaces like a family lounge or a reading nook is making them feel significant without overcrowding. We look for ways to frame views, like using large-format glass to bring the outside in. In our dining areas, we often play with ceiling height and crystal lighting to shift the mood from casual family meals to formal dinners.
Whether it is a rooftop terrace with patterned flooring or an alfresco setup, our goal remains the same: functionality wrapped in comfort. We avoid the urge to fill every square inch with furniture. Instead, we use specific elements like CNC-cut screens or HDF HMR panels to add character, keeping the floor area open for movement. Our design process starts with understanding how you move through these spaces, ensuring that lighting, seating, and decor serve a purpose rather than just looking good on camera.
House of Lalittya
We are Shivani and Ayush. We stop caring about grandeur when we are designing your reading nook or dining space. For these areas, we just want to get the texture and the light right so you can actually enjoy your coffee or a quiet evening.
