Stop playing with equipment that fights your natural swing. I’m Sandy, and I’m here to help you understand why your gear might be the reason you're stuck, not your technique.

Let's bust some common golf club myths. Many widely held beliefs about equipment can actually hold your game back. It's time to separate fact from fiction.

Myth: Stronger lofts always mean more distance. Fact: This only works if you have the clubhead speed to launch the ball at the right angle. Otherwise, you can actually lose distance.

Myth: The shaft is the engine of the club. Fact: The real engine is YOU, the golfer. The shaft's role is to transfer the power from your swing effectively.

Myth: All your wedges should have the same bounce angle. Fact: You hit shots from various lies, so you need different bounce angles to handle everything from tight turf to soft sand.

Just like you wouldn't wear someone else's shoes, don't swing with a club that's not fitted for you. Custom clubs are the key to a better, more comfortable game.

What are the different types of golf clubs? Each club in your bag has a specific purpose, and understanding them is crucial for good course management.

The Driver has the largest clubhead and is used for tee shots on par-4s and par-5s to achieve maximum distance. A proper fit is crucial for finding more fairways.

Fairway Woods have smaller heads than drivers and more loft, helping you lift the ball off the ground for long shots from the fairway.

Hybrids are versatile clubs that combine the easy-to-hit nature of a wood with the accuracy of an iron, making them great for replacing long irons.

Irons are used for approach shots to the green where precision is key. They have angled faces and shorter shafts for greater control.

About Educational Corner: Know Your Gear

Most golfers think a 'stiff' shaft is the answer to more power, but if you don't have the clubhead speed to match, you are just sacrificing distance. Before you buy that shiny new driver, we need to see how your current launch angle and spin rate actually behave on a TrackMan monitor—because the numbers don't lie, even if the marketing does.

Myths That Hold You Back

There is a lot of noise in golf equipment marketing. You see ads claiming a specific driver will add 20 yards to your game, but golf isn't a one-size-fits-all sport.

  • The Shaft Myth: Many players believe the shaft is the engine. It is not. You are the engine; the shaft is the transmission. If your transmission doesn't match your engine's power, you lose control and distance.
  • The Loft Myth: Stronger lofts on irons don't automatically mean more distance. If your swing speed is too slow to launch the ball at the correct angle, those stronger lofts will actually cause your ball to drop out of the sky too early.

Your Bag Breakdown

Every club in your bag has a specific biomechanical job. If you are struggling with a specific type of shot, it usually comes down to one of these:

  • Driver: It is not just about swinging hard. A proper fit ensures your spin rate is optimized so the ball carries and rolls, rather than ballooning into the wind.
  • Irons: These are for approach and precision. We look at lie angle here; if your clubface isn't square at impact because the lie angle is off, you will consistently miss the green, no matter how good your swing is.
  • Wedges: Different turf needs different bounce angles. If you use the same bounce for hardpan as you do for soft sand, you are making the game harder than it needs to be.
  • The Putter: This is 50% of your game, yet it is the most ignored club. We use Capto sensors to measure your face rotation and impact physics to see if your putter's neck shape actually matches your stroke arc.

Don't Guess, Measure

Whether you are playing with an old set you inherited or looking to buy new, stop guessing. Bring your current clubs to the studio, and we will put them on the TrackMan. We don't change your swing to fit the club; we change the club to fit your swing.
