Musical Collaborations and Inspiration in Mumbai
Music is a journey of learning. For me, these moments with my gurus and fellow artists aren't just photos—they are blessings that shape every beat I play on the tabla.
A cherished photo with the legendary Asha Bhosle ji. Her timeless music has been an inspiration, and to receive her blessings in person was an unforgettable honor.
With my Guru, Ustad Fazal Qureshi ji, the guiding force of my musical life. His teachings in the Punjab Gharana tradition are the most valuable gift I have ever received.
With the master percussionist Sivamani sir and Runa Sivamani didi. Being in the company of such rhythmic geniuses is always an electrifying and humbling experience.
With the 'Godfather of Indian Jazz', the great Louis Banks sir. It was an honor to meet a musician who has shaped the landscape of fusion music in our country.
A blessed moment with the sitar maestro, Ustad Shahid Parvez Khan ji. His music is a deep ocean of knowledge, and to meet him was a dream come true.
With the legendary percussion arranger Nitin Shankar dada after a recording. I am always learning so much about rhythm and music production under his guidance.
With the soulful ghazal and sufi singer Kavita Seth ji. I have always admired her voice, and it was a pleasure to meet her at an event.
About this collection
Behind every successful recording session or live performance, there is a community of artists. My work is built on these relationships—whether it’s a session guided by Nitin Shankar dada or a jugalbandi with fellow musicians. When you hire me, you are not just getting a percussionist; you are getting someone deeply integrated into Mumbai’s musical ecosystem, someone who values the trust of legends as much as the precision of the rhythm.
Roots in Tradition
My foundation is the Punjab Gharana, taught to me by my Guru, Ustad Fazal Qureshi ji. This classical training isn't just about technical skill; it is about understanding the soul of the instrument. It is what allows me to switch between a traditional ghazal recording and a modern fusion track without losing the essence of the rhythm.
Collaboration as a Craft
I believe the studio is a sacred space. Whether I am working on a film score, like Bandish Bandits Season 2, or jamming at a private baithak, the goal is always the same: to serve the song. I am fortunate to have learned from the best in the industry, and I bring that discipline to every session.
What I Bring to Your Project
When we collaborate, I don't just provide a track; I listen. I work closely with composers and engineers to ensure the percussion adds the right texture—be it a subtle tabla touch for an unplugged track or energetic dholak layers for a film sequence.
- Precision: I record on the grid for seamless editing.
- Versatility: My setup includes tablas, dholaks, and auxiliary percussion like shakers and ghungroos.
- Efficiency: I prioritize quick turnaround times for studio sessions, delivering high-resolution WAV files tailored to your specific scale.
If you are looking for a percussionist who respects the craft and understands the vibe, let’s talk.
Harmeet Singh
I’m Harmeet, and to me, music is about 'rhythm in the soul and tradition in the heart'. I’ve spent years learning from legends like Ustad Fazal Qureshi ji, and I bring that same devotion to every project I take on, whether it's a film score or a private baithak.
