Kathak Dance Classes for Kids in Model Town
We teach the Jaipur Gharana style with a side of fun. From foundational footwork to graceful expressions, we help kids discover the language of classical dance in our vibrant, supportive studio.
From flawless footwork to beautiful expressions, our students nailed their Kathak performance at the "Aagaaz" showcase. This video captures the grace of their stage performance.
Expressions are the soul of Kathak. In this video, our students practice their 'abhinaya', learning to convey stories and emotions through their facial expressions and gestures.
We believe in teaching the theory behind the art. Here, a young student confidently demonstrates and names several Kathak mudras (hand gestures) like Pataka and Musti.
More than just dance, we teach the history. In this Q&A session, a seven-year-old student correctly answers that Kathak is a classical dance form from Uttar Pradesh.
Our students learn about the rich traditions of Kathak. This student explains the three main gharanas (schools) of Kathak and proudly states she is learning the Jaipur Gharana style.
Our Kathak stars shining bright on the "Aagaaz" stage. This collage showcases the beautiful costumes and graceful postures from their stunning classical dance performance.
About Kathak: Grace & Tradition
We don't just teach steps; we teach the meaning behind them. Before our students ever step onto the stage for our 'Aagaaz' annual showcase, they spend hours in our studio understanding the history of the Jaipur Gharana and the specific hand mudras that tell a story. We prioritize building stage confidence so that when the lights go up, your child performs with genuine joy rather than just mechanical rhythm.
Classical dance training can feel rigid, but at Hangin, we keep the atmosphere light, encouraging, and centered on the child. Our curriculum is designed to make the complexities of Kathak accessible and engaging for different age groups.
Our Approach to Kathak
We follow the Jaipur Gharana style, focusing on three main pillars:
- Foundation: We start with the basics—Tatkar (footwork) and body alignment. We use wooden flooring designed for shock absorption to keep growing knees safe while they practice those rhythmic spins.
- Expression (Abhinaya): This is where the magic happens. We teach students how to use facial expressions to convey emotions and stories, turning a simple movement into a performance.
- Theory & History: We aren't just about the physical. Kids learn the names of hand mudras (like Pataka and Musti) and the history behind this North Indian classical art form, which helps them connect deeply with what they are performing.
Why Join Our Classes
- Age-Specific Batches: We group kids by age (6-9 years and 9+ years) so they learn alongside peers at similar stages of motor skill development.
- Performance Ready: We prepare students for our annual 'Aagaaz' showcase. This gives them a clear, exciting goal to work towards—costumes, lights, and a real audience.
- Small Groups: With 8 sessions per month, we ensure every child gets personal correction and feedback on their posture and rhythm.
Whether your child is a complete beginner or already knows their taal, our studio is a safe space to get messy, make mistakes, and eventually, master the craft.
