I paint the places I have been and the ones I have only dreamt of. These watercolor scenes are my way of holding onto the quiet, misty mornings in Tirthan and the sturdy charm of mountain houses.

This watercolor painting is a composite of my memories from the mountains. It features cozy houses nestled on a green hillside against a warm, sunset sky. It’s a perfect example of the dreamlike "pahaad wale ghar" that I love to paint.

A watercolor scene of houses on a hill, surrounded by pine trees. I use soft washes of color to create a sense of peace and nostalgia, capturing the simple beauty of life in the mountains.

I love how mountain houses seem to glow in the evening. This watercolor painting captures a cozy home tucked away in the trees, with warm light spilling from its windows against a dusky pink sky.

A dreamy watercolor landscape of mountains shrouded in mist. The layers of green and brown hills fading into the clouds create a sense of depth and tranquility. This piece is about getting lost in daydreams of distant lands.

A close-up of a pine tree standing tall against a backdrop of misty mountains. This watercolor painting focuses on the textures of the foliage and the soft, moody atmosphere of a cloudy day in the hills.

This winter landscape in watercolor shows bare trees on a gentle slope with snow-capped mountains in the distance. It captures the quiet patience of nature, a feeling I try to bring into my painting process.

A serene watercolor painting of the Tirthan river, with rocks and a pine tree by the water's edge. I painted this on location, trying to capture the soothing movement of the river and the peace of the valley.

The crooked stairs of mountain houses have a charm of their own. This watercolor piece from Tirthan Valley captures a typical hillside home with stone steps leading up to it, surrounded by the warm colors of autumn.

A simple watercolor study of a pine tree and a wooden bridge in Tirthan Valley. It’s these small, everyday scenes from my travels that I love to document in my sketchbook.

Painted on a fresh morning in Tirthan Valley, this watercolor captures the rustic charm of Himachali architecture against a backdrop of lush greenery. It’s a reminder of the simple beauty of being alive.

About Watercolor Landscapes: Memories of the Mountains

Each painting here starts as a memory rather than a direct reference. I might blend the hills of Narkanda with a house I once spotted in Spiti, painting them layer by layer until they feel real. If you want a specific mountain view or a landscape that reminds you of home, I can paint that from your photos.

Painting with watercolors is an exercise in patience. You have to learn the art of letting go, especially when the water takes the pigment in directions you did not plan. I often find myself sketching while roaming the Tirthan Valley, trying to catch the rustic charm of Himachali architecture before the light shifts. My goal is not to create a perfect photograph, but to capture how a place feels on a fresh morning or during a dusky sunset. You will see a lot of pahaad wale ghar, or mountain houses, in my work, featuring crooked stairs and pine trees swaying in the mist. These are not just landscapes, they are little fragments of the slow life I constantly chase. Whether it is the quiet patience of bare winter trees or the glow of a window against a dusky pink sky, I try to pack those emotions into every piece. I work on 300 GSM cold press paper, ensuring the colors stay vibrant and the textures hold up over time. Every piece is hand-signed and dated, carrying a bit of my journey with it.
