Illustrated Poetry and Musings
Finding visual homes for words that touch the soul—from Ghalib’s ghazals to lines I’ve scribbled in my own sketchbook. Every piece here blends typography and art to turn a feeling into something you can hold.
My visual interpretation of Mirza Ghalib's famous lines, "Hazaaron khwahishen aisi". I created a gallery wall of my own paintings and art, with tiny figures sitting and walking on the frames, representing the endless desires and dreams we hold within us.
An animated illustration set to the words of Amrita Pritam. A girl sits watching a colorful sea on an old television, while the world outside is monochrome. It reflects the feeling of finding an escape and a world of color through stories and art.
A simple watercolor landscape of a lone house on a hill, paired with a powerful quote from Jack Kerouac. This piece is about the beautiful, terrifying freedom of a blank page, whether in art or in life.
A hand-lettered piece with a quote from Mary Oliver, created with colorful watercolors. It’s a reminder to stay whimsical and take responsibility for your own life, captured in a playful and vibrant typographic style.
This colorful hand-lettered artwork features a W.B. Yeats quote about the magic hidden in the world. I used a rainbow of watercolor inks to create a whimsical and inspiring piece that encourages you to look closer.
This animated illustration brings a Tony Hoagland poem to life. The piece depicts a solitary figure in a vast landscape, reflecting on the loneliness and dedication of being an artist, or an "accountant of the heart."
A simple yet powerful animated reminder about self-love. This black and white line drawing shows a figure embracing herself, surrounded by a glittering aura. It’s a small piece to remind you to hold yourself close.
This animated typography piece is based on a quote about the power of photographs to freeze a perfect moment. The chalk-on-blackboard effect gives it a nostalgic, timeless feel, like an old memory being replayed.
A short, hopeful animation with a simple message: no matter what happens, the sun will rise again. The minimal line drawings and warm colors create a gentle and encouraging visual reminder to keep believing.
I wrote these words to express my feelings about working with clay. This digital piece combines my thoughts on embracing imperfection with a hand-drawn, earthy pattern, turning a personal reflection into a shareable piece of art.
About Illustrated Poetry & Musings
I treat every piece here as a collaboration between the poet and my pencil. Whether it is a couplet that kept you up at night or a line from your favourite film, I mix digital typography with hand-drawn elements to ensure the visual reflects the true weight of the words. It is not just about writing the text; it is about finding the right rhythm in the layout.
When I illustrate a line from Ghalib or Amrita Pritam, I am not just tracing letters. I am trying to capture the mood of the verse—the longing, the nostalgia, or that quiet moment of realization. My process starts in Procreate, where I experiment with brushes that mimic real textures, ensuring the final print feels more like a page from a sketchbook than a cold digital file.
Most of these pieces are available as matte prints on 300 GSM textured paper, which gives them a tactile, handmade feel. If you have a specific poem, a line of dialogue, or even a thought you scribbled on a napkin that you want to see come alive, we can work on that together. I love transforming personal notes into typographic art. Just keep in mind that since I work on these one by one, there is a bit of a process involved to get the lettering and composition to sit just right.
