Learning to identify mushrooms like the "Turkey tail" using our custom-made flashcards. This hands-on method makes it easy and fun for kids to learn about different fungi species.

A basketful of discoveries! After a successful foraging walk, we gather our finds to examine them more closely. We always practice responsible and safe foraging.

A young forager proudly holds a mushroom he found, comparing it to his identification card. These moments of personal discovery are what make our walks so rewarding.

Even the parents get in on the action! Here, a father uses a magnifier to inspect a fungus on a log, sharing the moment of discovery with his child.

Two young girls crouch down to get a better look at a mushroom, using a book for reference. Our walks encourage teamwork and shared learning among friends.

A glimpse into our mushroom foraging walk, where kids discovered fungi of all shapes and sizes. We teach them to look, but not to munch, appreciating the beauty of these wild wonders.

A beautiful cluster of mushrooms growing at the base of a tree. Our walks teach kids to spot these natural treasures in the most unexpected places.

Our founder, Shruti, and a mushroom expert from Shroomin.in guide a group of curious kids. We often collaborate with experts to provide the richest learning experience.

About Mushroom Foraging: The Magical Fungi Hunt

We teach kids the golden rule of foraging: admire, identify, and document, but never taste. Each walk is led by our naturalist team, so your little explorer gets to use professional magnifying glasses and custom identification charts to solve the mystery of what is actually growing under that rotting log.

Nature isn't just in the deep forest, it is waiting in the corner of your local city park. Our mushroom foraging walks are designed to help families look past the manicured lawns and into the hidden, damp corners where fungi thrive.

We focus on the fascinating role of fungi in our ecosystem. Kids don't just look at mushrooms; they learn to differentiate between decomposers like the Turkey Tail and other fascinating species. We use high-quality, safe identification methods, often collaborating with experts to ensure the learning is accurate and scientific.

Why join a foraging walk?

  • Hands-on Learning: Kids move from 'eww' to 'wow' as they use tools to inspect spores, textures, and structures without harming the fungi.
  • Urban Ecosystems: We explore accessible spots like Lalbagh or Cubbon Park in Bengaluru, showing families that biodiversity is right in their backyard.
  • Safe Exploration: We emphasize responsible nature interaction. Everything is 'look, don't touch' (or touch with supervision) and definitely 'never eat' unless specifically guided for safe edible varieties—though we mostly focus on identification for fun.

These sessions are about building patience and a keen eye. Whether it is a sunny morning or a damp, post-rain afternoon, we guarantee you will see your city park with entirely new eyes by the end of the walk.
