Epiphyte Art and Orchid Mounts

We bridge the gap between nature and architecture by mounting vibrant orchids and lush ferns on untreated driftwood. Every piece turns a blank wall into a living, breathing sculpture that mimics the natural canopy of the forest.

A rustic wood branch hosts blooming orchids and lush ferns, gracefully arranged within a vintage Karnataka door frame. This living art installation merges botanical elegance with cultural charm, creating a nostalgic sanctuary.

This is our signature 'Tree of Life' installation coming together. We assemble a mammoth trunk with smaller branches to create a vertical garden, which becomes a host for various epiphytes. It's one of our largest living art pieces.

About this collection

We do not use standard pots for these arrangements. We source untreated coffee wood stumps and weathered branches, wrapping the root systems in high-grade Sphagnum moss to mimic how these plants grow in nature. This method allows for superior root aeration and prevents the waterlogging that often happens with typical soil-based potting, making them a perfect fit for Bangalore's climate.

Bringing the Wild Indoors

Epiphytes are plants that naturally grow on other plants rather than in soil. By mounting orchids, bromeliads, and staghorn ferns on natural driftwood, we recreate the lush ecosystem of a forest canopy within your home. Since we don't rely on soil, the growth pattern is cleaner and significantly more sculptural.

Our Process

Each mount is a unique project. We select wood based on the specific aesthetic you want—ranging from 1-foot weathered branches for tabletop decor to 5-foot coffee wood stumps for large focal points.

  • The Medium: We use chemically untreated wood to ensure the health of the plants.
  • The Roots: Roots are secured with preserved green moss or coconut fiber. This retains moisture while allowing the plant to breathe.
  • The Bloom: We typically feature Phalaenopsis orchids in white, purple, or yellow, complemented by hardy ferns to keep the installation looking green even when the orchids are out of bloom.

Care and Longevity

These pieces are surprisingly robust. Because epiphytes are designed to absorb moisture from the air and rain, they thrive in the Bangalore climate with simple soak-and-drain watering. We customize every piece based on the light and humidity of your specific space, whether it's an airy balcony or a shaded foyer. If you have a specific vintage frame or a piece of heirloom wood you want to convert into a living installation, we can work that into the design as well.
