Creative and Artistic Expression for Preschoolers
Watch how our little artists turn messy hands and wild imaginations into their first masterpieces, building confidence one brushstroke at a time.
Today in Music and Movement, our preschoolers explored creative expression with a beautiful ribbon dance. Each child danced to the rhythm, celebrating the joy of movement and self-expression.
Learning independence with a fun twist. Our boys and girls are coloring pictures of themselves, an activity that helps them develop fine motor skills and a sense of self.
Creating frames full of love and creativity. Our little ones are making their own special photo frames for their grandparents, a heartfelt gift made with their own hands.
Our little stars love dressing up for role play. It's a wonderful way for them to learn through fun and imagination, exploring different roles and scenarios every day.
Little hands, big ideas. Our nursery kids are exploring pre-writing skills with squishy bags, a fun, sensory activity that prepares them for writing by strengthening their hand muscles.
Activity time turned into masterpiece time. Our Euro Senior kids put their hearts and creativity into making vibrant murals, where every brushstroke tells a story.
Let us get ready to welcome Lord Ganesha. Our daycare children are creating beautiful sand paintings of Ganesha, a creative and festive way to celebrate.
About this collection
Here, 'art' is never just about making things look pretty—it's how we build fine motor skills and emotional confidence. When you see our kids covered in paint or tangled in ribbons, they are actually learning grip control, rhythm, and self-expression. I believe these messy moments are where the real learning happens, helping them find their voice—roz naye sawaal, roz nayi kahani (new questions, new stories)—before they even learn to write their names.
Beyond the Mess: How We Create
Art at our preschool is an extension of our HEUREKA curriculum. We don't just focus on the final product; we care about the process. Whether it is our nursery children using squishy bags to practice pre-writing skills or Euro Senior kids working together on large-scale murals, every activity has a purpose.
Why Creativity Matters
- Fine Motor Development: Activities like bead stringing, block printing, and vegetable painting strengthen hand muscles, which are crucial for later writing.
- Emotional Expression: We use music, movement, and role-play to help children process feelings. When a child dresses up or dances, they are exploring different facets of their own personality in a safe space.
- Visible Thinking: Through our 'Create Together' assessments, we encourage children to share why they chose a specific color or shape, turning art into a conversation about how they perceive the world.
Our Approach to Play-Based Art
We keep things hands-on and tactile. You will often see our students engaging in sensory art, from fingerprint painting during Onam celebrations to clay and dough modeling. We invite parents to see this progress firsthand during our regular Gallery Walks, where we display the children's work and discuss the milestones they’ve hit. It’s about celebrating the 'little stars' and their unique perspectives on the world.
Santoshi Singh
I’m Dr. Santoshi Singh, but to the kids here, I’m just Santoshi Mam. I believe that if a child is happy and busy creating, they are learning naturally. That’s why you’ll find me right there in the middle of the mess with them, celebrating every smudge and stroke as a win.
