Senpai Vicky demonstrates a fundamental combination starting from Zenkutsu-dachi. This sequence includes an upper block (jodan-uke) followed by middle-level punches (chudan oi-zuki and gyaku-zuki).
A look inside a typical training session focusing on Kihon Waza (basic techniques) and Kata. Students of all belt levels practice in unison, reinforcing the core principles of our style.
A rare video from 2012 of Grand Master Ramesh Parab performing a traditional Mixai Kata. His performance, which earned a standing ovation, is a powerful reminder of the deep history and power of our forms.
About Forms & Fundamentals (Kata & Kihon)
Kata is not just a sequence of movements; it is a living textbook of self-defense. Here, we focus on the mechanics of every strike, like why you shift your weight in Zenkutsu-dachi or when exactly to breathe during a defensive block. When you join our sessions, be ready to break down every movement until it becomes muscle memory. It takes repetition and sweat, but that is the only way to master the basics properly.
The Foundation of Gojudo
At our dojo, we treat Kihon (basics) and Kata (forms) as the bedrock of your martial arts journey. Without a solid foundation, speed and power mean nothing. We follow the traditional path established by Grand Master Ramesh Parab Sir, emphasizing precision over flashiness.
Why Kata Matters
Think of Kata as the DNA of karate. Every block, strike, and stance in a form has a practical application, whether it is Jodan-uke (upper block) or Chudan-zuki (middle punch). During our classes, we go beyond memorizing patterns:
- Breath Control: Learning when to inhale and exhale to maximize the power of your strikes.
- Stance Stability: Perfecting Zenkutsu-dachi and other foundational postures to ensure you are rooted and balanced.
- Focus and Intent: Every movement is executed with kiai (spirit shout) and total mental concentration.
Whether you are a beginner struggling with your first set of movements or a senior student refining your forms, our Senseis provide individual correction. We do not rush. You repeat the drill, analyze the stance, and internalize the theory until it is second nature. This is the discipline required to progress through our belt grading system. Join us to experience training that is demanding, rewarding, and deeply rooted in karate tradition.
