Cinematic Travel & City Documentary Films

I don’t just record scenes, I bottle up the vibe of a city. From the golden hour glow in Colombo to the rhythmic chaos of Delhi, these films tell the real story of the places I visit.

A short film capturing the essence of Colombo, Sri Lanka. From the iconic coastal train tracks to the serene Buddha statues set against the modern cityscape, this film documents the city's unique blend of culture and urban life.

This is a city documentary of Delhi I created for a brand collaboration with Croma and Vivo. It follows me through Chandni Chowk, India Gate, and other iconic spots as I test a new phone's camera, showcasing how to capture the city's soul.

Capturing a massive fireworks display over the Disneyland castle in Hong Kong. This video, shot on an iPhone and graded with my custom LUTs, shows how I can create high-quality, cinematic event coverage even with mobile equipment.

A moody, atmospheric shot of the Colombo skyline at night. Using my iPhone, I captured the city lights under a dramatic, cloudy sky, demonstrating my skills in mobile photography and low-light shooting.

A bright and happy selfie on the beaches of Colombo. As a travel filmmaker, I often capture moments that are both personal and scenic, showing the experience of exploring a new destination.

Soaking in the unique sunlight of Hong Kong. This candid street photograph captures me with my camera, ready to explore, and is edited with my signature warm Lightroom presets.

Capturing the vibrant culture of Kathmandu during a stay at the Hilton. This collage showcases the colorful traditional dancers, including a masked Lakhe dancer, highlighting my work in documenting cultural performances.

About this collection

I shoot these documentaries using a hybrid setup. I rely on my Nikon Z8 for high-fidelity landscape shots and my iPhone 16 Pro Max for dynamic, on-the-ground street footage. This approach allows me to blend cinematic wide angles with the raw energy of the street, ensuring your travel film feels authentic rather than staged. If you are looking for a video that captures a specific urban atmosphere or a travel narrative, I prioritize planning around the golden hour to get that signature natural light I love.

Whether I am navigating the bustling lanes of Chandni Chowk or filming the serenity of a temple in Colombo, my process stays the same: I look for the soul of the place. A travel documentary should not feel like a postcard. It should feel like you were there.

The Audio-Visual Experience

For city documentaries, the soundscape is just as vital as the visuals. I layer ambient audio—traffic, conversations, distant temple bells—to build total immersion. I apply my own moody color grading presets to every frame, ensuring a consistent cinematic look whether the footage was captured on my professional camera or my phone. My goal is to make the editing invisible, so the viewer focuses on the story, not the technique.

Why I Use a Hybrid Setup

Many clients ask why I pull out my phone alongside my Nikon. The answer is simple: accessibility. In crowded markets or fast-paced travel settings, a massive camera rig can change how people react to the lens. My phone allows me to capture the raw, unscripted truth of a moment while still maintaining 4K quality. I bring the same gear and the same dedication to color grading, whether I am filming a personal travel vlog, a brand collab in Delhi, or a documentary-style film abroad.
