Design a Peaceful Terrace Sanctuary in Bengaluru

A quiet escape isn't far away. See how I’ve turned my own terrace into a thriving, peaceful sanctuary in the heart of our city.

This is my own terrace garden, a space that grew through trial, error, and a lot of patience. It’s a mix of climbers, potted plants, and palms that create a feeling of being enveloped by nature.

Looking out from the doorway, the garden path invites you to walk through and leave the world behind. I use artificial grass for walkways to keep the space green and low maintenance.

A view of the garden entrance, where vines and hanging plants create a natural archway. This shows how we can use vertical space to build a dense, jungle-like feel even on a rooftop.

This video shows the journey of transforming a simple corner into a vibrant green space. It started with a few pots and grew into this lush escape, proving any area has potential.

My garden has learned to handle Bangalore's unpredictable weather, from hot sun to heavy rains. This resilience is something I build into every garden I design, ensuring it lasts for years.

Even on a cloudy day, the garden is full of life. The different shades of green from various plants and the sound of the wind chimes create a calm and meditative atmosphere.

A rainy day brings a fresh look to the garden. You can see how the ferns, palms, and other foliage glisten, and the whole space feels cleansed and renewed.

This was taken during the early stages of setting up a new section of the garden. It's a process of arranging, rearranging, and finding the perfect spot for each plant to thrive.

Here I am, standing in my garden during Diwali. It’s more than just a project; it’s my home and my sanctuary, a place of celebration and peace.

About My Terrace Sanctuary

What you see here wasn't built overnight. It’s the result of 1.5 years of trial and error, learning how to handle Bengaluru’s unpredictable sun and rain. I don’t just place plants; I build ecosystems that survive our harsh weather, using vertical structures to turn empty corners into dense, living hideaways. If you want a space that feels like a permanent getaway, we start by mapping how your terrace handles the elements.

Building a Sanctuary That Lasts

A garden is not just decoration. It is a living, breathing companion. My approach focuses on creating a 'jungle' effect on rooftops, where creepers like Morning Glory and Garlic Vine act as a green canopy, filtering the harsh urban light and providing natural shade.

Technical Resilience

We use a specialized mix of red soil, cocopeat, and vermicompost to ensure plants thrive in containers. Every setup is anchored for wind protection—which is essential for Bengaluru's high-rise terraces—and we use artificial turf pathways to keep the area clean and usable even during our heavy monsoons.

The Magic of Lighting

The atmosphere shifts entirely after sunset. I use solar flame torches and warm fairy lights to soften the edges of the concrete. It turns a standard terrace into a perfect spot for reading, meditation, or simply sitting in silence after a long day.

Our Process

When we work together, we aren't just buying plants. We are selecting varieties based on your specific micro-climate. Some corners of your terrace are for sun-worshippers, while others require shade-lovers. Let’s talk about your space and how we can make it breathe.

I’m Manzoor. I don’t believe in quick, flashy makeovers. I build gardens the way I live—with patience, observing how the light moves across the terrace and what each plant needs to truly settle in.
