Terrace and Rooftop Gardens for Bangalore Homes

Your terrace is more than just open space—it is an opportunity to create a private retreat high above the city noise. Whether you need a compact balcony refresh or a full-scale rooftop lounge, I design functional, low-maintenance green spaces that thrive in Bangalore’s climate.

This terrace features a built-in L-shaped bench and modern planters filled with tropical foliage. The patterned tile floor adds a decorative touch, creating a stylish and comfortable outdoor lounge area.

I designed this covered patio to be a true outdoor room. The wooden deck, comfortable seating, and warm overhead lighting are complemented by a vertical garden, bringing the feeling of nature into a protected space.

A large vertical garden serves as the stunning backdrop for this spacious covered terrace. The living wall adds a massive burst of green and improves air quality, making the seating area feel like a secluded jungle hideaway.

This cozy patio demonstrates how even a small space can be transformed into a plant lover's paradise. I used a mix of hanging baskets, wall-mounted planters, and floor pots to create a dense, multi-level urban jungle.

About this collection

When working on rooftops, the biggest technical challenge is managing water runoff. I install dedicated drainage cells beneath every deck and planter to prevent waterlogging, ensuring your garden stays lush without damaging your terrace floor or causing seepage issues for the rooms below.

Building Your Rooftop Sanctuary

Designing for a terrace or rooftop in a city like Bangalore requires balancing aesthetic desires with structural realities. My approach is to treat your terrace as an outdoor room—an extension of your home rather than just a rooftop garden.

The Foundation of a Lasting Garden

Before we look at plants or decor, we focus on the integrity of your space. This involves:

  • Waterproofing & Drainage: Protecting your slab is the first priority. We use drainage cells and slope management to ensure water flows to existing outlets, preventing the common issue of pooling and dampness.
  • Structural Weight Management: For large pergolas or built-in benches, we assess the structural capacity of the terrace to ensure your new garden is safe and compliant with building standards.

Materials That Handle the Elements

Bangalore weather fluctuates, so the materials we select need to last. We prioritize WPC (Wood Plastic Composite) decking and metal fabrication over traditional wood, which requires constant staining and can rot with our heavy monsoon rain. WPC provides the warmth of timber with the durability of a composite, ensuring your patio remains pristine for years.

Privacy and Ambiance

Many urban terraces overlook adjacent buildings. We use custom-fabricated jaalis or slat fencing to create privacy screens that double as vertical garden backdrops. By adding solar-powered lighting and curated specimen plants in oversized FRP planters, we turn an exposed concrete area into a shielded lounge.

Every project includes a 2D or 3D design phase where we map out your seating zones, movement paths, and green walls before a single piece of material is ordered. This ensures you know exactly how the finished space will function before we start work.
