Behind the Scenes: My Portrait Process
Photoshoots can feel stressful when you are not used to being in front of the camera. I want to show you how I work to make that feeling disappear so we can capture you just as you are.
A little glimpse into my process during a women's portrait session at my studio. I often get right on the floor to find the perfect angle and connect with my clients, ensuring they feel comfortable and guided throughout the shoot.
The experience starts with making you feel comfortable. Here I am helping with a few final touches before we began a portrait shoot at a client's home. These small, personal moments are part of building the trust we need for authentic photos.
This video shows how I can transform a space in your own home for a professional portrait session. I bring my own backdrops and equipment, allowing us to create beautiful family portraits with the comfort and convenience of being in a familiar environment.
Here is a look at a branding portrait session in my studio for a talented makeup artist. Beyond family and maternity, I also work with women to create professional portraits that capture their personality and brand essence.
About Behind the Scenes: The Experience
I often get on the floor to find the right angle or help with small outfit adjustments before we start. My process is about removing the stress of posing, so we capture you in your most natural state, whether in my studio or your own home.
People often worry about being stiff or looking uncomfortable in front of the lens. My entire approach is designed to flip that script.
When you shoot with me, we do not rush. Whether it is a maternity session or a branding portrait, I take the time to set up, play some music, and talk until you forget the camera is even there. For studio shoots in Malad West, I use minimalist setups that keep the focus entirely on you and your personality.
If you prefer a home session, I bring the studio to you. I travel with professional backdrops and lighting, turning your living room into a comfortable, familiar space. This is especially helpful if you have toddlers or if you are in the final stages of pregnancy and want to avoid travel. We will work together on wardrobe choices—usually neutral tones—to ensure the final images are timeless and clean. My goal is to deliver raw, honest portraits that feel like a true reflection of who you are, not just a staged photograph.
