Restaurant Interior Design for Fountain Sizzlers
We brought a Bombay classic back to life by blending Art Deco roots with modern spatial design. This project was all about balancing nostalgia with a fresh, functional layout for a busy restaurant environment.
The entrance to Fountain Sizzlers at Palladium, featuring Art Deco-inspired metalwork on the doors and the iconic logo, setting a nostalgic yet sophisticated tone.
The main dining area combines classic black-and-white checkerboard flooring with cozy red booths and arched partitions, creating a timeless restaurant atmosphere.
A close-up of the custom-designed booths. The metal arches and frosted glass panels provide a sense of privacy while the custom artwork adds a touch of whimsy and character.
We used two different flooring patterns to define the space. The vibrant red and black mosaic tiles in this section complement the cane-back chairs and arched windows.
This view shows the interplay of textures, from the painted brick wall and checkerboard floor to the plush red velvet of the booths and the warm wood of the chairs.
A custom mural depicting scenes of old Bombay runs along the main wall, paying homage to the brand's history and its connection to the city.
The row of deep red booths, each framed by a slender black arch with integrated lighting, creates a rhythmic and inviting seating arrangement.
About this collection
Designing for a legacy brand like Fountain Sizzlers required us to solve the flow of a high-traffic restaurant without losing its character. We used custom-engineered metal arches to partition booths, which created necessary privacy for diners without shutting off the space or blocking lines of sight, making the floor plan feel open yet intimate.
When we took on the Fountain Sizzlers project, our biggest challenge wasn't just aesthetics; it was honoring the history of the brand while making it viable for a modern mall environment. We steered away from trends, choosing instead to lean into the nostalgic 'Bombay' identity.
We relied on a mix of visual cues to guide the guest experience. The checkerboard flooring provides that classic, grounded feel, while the distinct red mosaic tiles in the dining sections help zone the floor without needing physical walls. This 'no-walls' zoning logic allowed us to maximize cover count while keeping the space airy.
Every piece of artwork tells a story. We worked with ZA Works to create custom wall art that reimagines the Goddess Flora in different moods. These aren't just decorations; they are conversation starters that anchor the restaurant in its legacy. By sweating the small stuff, like integrating the lighting into the arched booth frames and choosing heavy-duty commercial materials that mimic luxury finishes, we built a space that can handle the daily rush of a busy restaurant while still feeling like a quiet, timeless retreat.
