Learning is a full-body experience at Earthlings. We weave music, dance, and rhythm into every day, helping your child build coordination and confidence while having a blast.

We explored the different stages of a river through embodied expression. Here, our teacher demonstrates how to move like a majestic glacier, a playful waterfall, and a meandering river, all set to the beautiful music of Taufiq Qureshi and Shankar Mahadevan.

Here is Rini with her ukulele, Red, introducing our littles to marine life through song. Live music is a special part of our sessions, providing a joyful break and a fun way to learn new vocabulary and concepts.

The famous Vallam Kalli, or snake boat race of Kerala, inspired this movement activity. It's a fantastic way to learn about other cultures while developing a sense of rhythm and balance.

Our instruction card for the 'Row That Snakeboat' activity. Using just a pillow for a boat, children row to the beat, working on their gross motor skills and having a hilarious time.

About this collection

We don't just teach children to dance; we teach them to feel the rhythm. When we explore river cycles, your child won't just hear about it—they’ll be moving like a glacier, twisting like a stream, or rowing an imaginary snake boat to the beat. It is messy, it is noisy, and it is how they actually learn to coordinate their bodies.

More Than Just Dancing

At Earthlings, we believe that movement is the first language of a child. Whether we are strumming 'Red,' our trusty ukulele, or turning a simple pillow into a snake boat for a race, every activity is designed with a purpose.

We structure these sessions to help with:

  • Gross Motor Skills: Using big movements like jumping, stretching, and balancing to build body awareness.
  • Rhythm and Timing: Learning to follow a beat—crucial for cognitive development and self-regulation.
  • Cultural Connection: We introduce music from different traditions, like using Taufiq Qureshi’s compositions, to make learning feel expansive and diverse.

Why We Prioritize Movement

Children have a natural need to move, and sitting still for hours is rarely the best way for them to grasp new concepts. When we focus on themes like 'Water Worlds,' we don't just read about rivers. We act them out. This makes the information stick because the children have physically experienced the concept.

Our sessions intersperse focused activities with these movement breaks. This allows children to reset, burn off excess energy, and return to seated tasks with better attention spans. It is part of our commitment to being a Kootukudumbam—a place where your child feels free to express themselves, make noise, and grow in a space that celebrates their individuality.

We are just two foodies who started a school because we think kids deserve a place that is as messy and curious as they are. Whether we are strumming our ukulele or pretending to be glaciers in the garden, we are all about making sure your little ones grow up feeling connected to nature and to each other.
