Eternal Bouquets: Preserved Botanical Art
I believe nature belongs on our walls, not just outside. Each piece here is a moment I have captured, pressed, and framed by hand on paper I made myself. 🍃
I'm always exploring new ways to preserve nature. Here, I'm working with a pressed lemon slice, turning it into a small piece of art on handmade paper. It's a reminder that beauty and art can be found even in kitchen scraps.
A closer look at the framed cosmos flower I grew in my garden. I arranged it with a few fallen petals to capture a sense of delicate movement. The piece is embossed with my studio name, 'Dye Home'.
Another angle of the pressed cosmos, showing the texture of the handmade paper and the natural wood frame. I am currently working on a full catalog of these botanical art pieces.
This is a dried and pressed flower resting on a piece of handwoven fabric. Preserving botanicals this way turns them into lasting treasures, perfect for framing and hanging on your wall as if your home is a natural history museum.
About Eternal Bouquets: Preserved Botanical Art
Because I use raw, organic botanicals like cosmos and fallen leaves, each frame develops its own character over time. The colors will gently shift as the organic matter ages, meaning the art you hang on your wall today will evolve with you, turning your space into a living, breathing museum.
Bringing the Garden Indoors
My process for these Eternal Bouquets is slow, quiet, and completely manual. It starts with foraging and careful pressing, where I wait patiently for the moisture to leave the petals so the structure remains. Once the flower or leaf is perfectly preserved, I arrange it on handmade paper. I often texture this paper myself to add depth, ensuring the background is as thoughtful as the pressed botanicals.
Why Handmade Paper?
I choose handmade paper because it has a personality that factory-produced stock simply lacks. It is textured, deckle-edged, and porous, which makes the delicate botanical elements pop against the surface. When you hold these frames, you are not just looking at a dried plant; you are feeling the texture of a craft that respects the materials.
Custom Keepsakes
These frames make thoughtful, sustainable gifts. Whether it is a date, a name, or a personal message, I can hand-write it onto the paper to make the memory permanent. It is perfect for capturing wedding blooms or a piece of nature from a special trip.
A Gentle Reminder on Care
Since these are real, preserved botanicals, they are not static prints. They are living history. Keep them away from direct, harsh sunlight to maintain their colors for as long as possible, and remember that subtle browning or fading is simply part of their natural life cycle—a reminder that beauty is fleeting and precious.
Dyehome
I am the soul behind Dyehome, and for me, nature is the artist; I just help frame the masterpiece. I collect, press, and preserve these botanicals by hand, turning the garden into art you can live with every day.
