From kitchen scraps to foraged botanicals, I find inspiration for my color palettes everywhere. Here is a glimpse into the raw elements that power my sustainable art and textiles.

My art is rooted in a plant-based life. Here you can see various spices and dried flowers in brass bowls, which I use to create natural dyes and pigments. Each one offers a unique color and a connection to the earth.

A Sunday morning haul from the farmer's market is a feast for the eyes. The vibrant reds, greens, and yellows of fresh vegetables and fruits are a huge source of inspiration for my color palettes. Nature provides the most beautiful colors.

The bright orange and pink flowers blooming in a garden. I often forage for flowers like these to use in my dyeing, printing, and botanical art projects.

A pomegranate growing on a tree. The skin of the pomegranate is an excellent source of natural dye, producing a range of yellow and brown shades. I use every part of the plant in my work.

Another view of a fresh pomegranate. It's amazing to think that this fruit can be used to create lasting color on fabric.

A work-in-progress shot of flowers and botanicals hanging to dry in my studio. This is an essential first step for creating my 'Eternal Bouquets' and other preserved floral art. The sunlight and shadows create their own art.

This is where the magic begins. I am mixing a natural pigment to create a beautiful magenta color. If you have found my page, hello. I create, teach, and explore all things related to art and sustainability.

About From Nature's Palette: Our Inspiration

Every color you see here is born from kitchen scraps or foraged botanicals like turmeric, marigold, and onion peels. When I work with these raw materials, the result is never identical—that is the beauty of natural dyeing. If you are looking for a perfectly uniform, mass-produced finish, this might not be it, but if you want textiles that carry the subtle, earthy charm of nature, you are in the right place.

My work is rooted in Ayurvastra, an ancient practice of dyeing fabric with medicinal herbs like Tulsi and Turmeric. It is not just about aesthetics, but about bringing a bit of healing energy from nature into your daily life. I believe we create, teach, and explore to keep these traditional textile arts alive.

When I source my pigments from the local farmer's market, I am looking for the vibrant potential in what others might see as waste. Pomegranate skins, for instance, become rich, earthy yellows and browns, while indigo remains a constant, beautiful teacher in my studio. My process is entirely handmade, from extracting inks to eco-printing leaves directly onto cotton and silk. I have personally dyed over 7,100 meters of fabric, and every meter carries that slow, intentional touch.

Beyond textiles, this nature-first approach extends to my 'Eternal Bouquets.' I press and preserve real flowers and leaves, turning them into framed botanical art on handmade paper. Whether it is a cushion cover with ruffles or a set of hand-dyed napkins, everything I make is chemical-free. If you are curious about learning this craft, my workshops also cover natural indigo dyeing and textile design. This is for anyone wanting to make their home—and their lifestyle—a little more healthy and sustainable.
