For Haldi and Mehendi functions, I move away from a standard playlist. I run a 'Hybrid Live' setup where I integrate live percussion—Djembe, Darbuka, and Bongos—directly into my DJ sets. It turns a static party into a rhythm-led carnival. Since I handle both audio and visuals, I sync custom motion graphics to the beat, ensuring the energy on the screens matches exactly what the crowd is feeling on the floor.
My approach to pre-wedding events is centered on the 'Hybrid Live' format. Logistical Requirements
- Sound Setup: The venue must provide a high-quality PA system. My console is fully portable, but I need clear sound output to make the live percussion instruments cut through the mix.
- Space: The percussion rig is extensive, including Djembe, Timbals, and electronic pads. I need a dedicated performance area that allows for direct eye contact between me and the percussionist for the 'jugalbandi' sessions.
- Sound Check: I require 45 minutes of dedicated time before guests arrive to balance the electronic output with the live acoustic instruments.
