Looking back at these moments, I feel so lucky to have spent my life with the veena. It has been a wild, wonderful, and hectic road. From performing at Shankar Mutt to being recognized by the Sree Ramaseva Mandali during their Ramanavami celebrations in Chamarajpet, every felicitation feels like a celebration of our shared heritage, not just a personal achievement.

Why Tradition Matters in Teaching

When I started the Tarangini Arts Foundation, my goal was to create a space where the depth of Carnatic music could be taught properly. I bring these real-world experiences—the stage craft, the sound checks, and the collaboration with fellow musicians—directly into our classroom.

My students often ask me why I emphasize the 'why' behind every composition, like the Kritis of Muttuswamy Dikshitar. It is because music is a living language. My classes are designed to take you from a beginner level all the way to Vidwat. We focus on:

• Technique: Proper sitting posture and the distinct Meetu (plucking) style.
• Theory: Understanding Raga and Tala through traditional handwritten notation books.
• Performance: Getting comfortable with microphones, sound checks, and ensemble rehearsals at venues like Chowdaiah Memorial Hall.
