Veena & Carnatic Music Education

I find real joy in teaching veena and Carnatic music, even with my busy schedule of performing and composing. For me, sharing this ancient art is about more than just notes—it's about passing on a whole world of sound, emotion, and tradition.

My Approach

I bring lessons from my life as a performer, researcher, and the creator of the Tarangini Veena straight into our classes. You'll get more than just technique: we explore Carnatic music theory, dive into the stories behind legendary compositions, and really feel the music together. Learning Muttuswamy Dikshitar compositions is a big part of our sessions, and I make sure each student understands both the "how" and the "why" of every piece.

How Classes Work

• We follow a syllabus, so you know where you're headed, whether that's junior level or all the way up to Vidwat.
• Group Veena ensemble practice is a highlight. When all of us play together, especially in big rehearsals, there's a kind of magic that just doesn't happen solo.

I believe music is for sharing, so students get ready for real performances, from rehearsals to the stage at venues like Chowdaiah Memorial Hall. I enjoy mentoring even outside class, helping with everything from stage nerves to career steps.
