Unschooling Journey: Real Learning Experiences
We pulled our children out of the traditional school system to embrace 'universe-schooling.' This gallery is a look into how we turned the world into a classroom.
This photo with my two sons captures the spirit of our journey as a "NoBody" family. We let go of our identities to embrace the unknown, finding the essence of life through travel and connection. This was a time of deep spiritual growth and learning for all of us.

About Our Unschooling Journey: Learning from Life
Unschooling is not about avoiding education; it is about changing the source of learning. When we took our children out of school after grade 5, the transition was not instantaneous. We had to replace the rigid structure of textbooks with deliberate, real-world experiences like community projects and travel, which forced us to prioritize emotional maturity over test scores.
Many parents ask me, 'Ab kya karoge?' when they hear about my family's shift away from the traditional school system. It is a valid fear. The conventional education model provides a clear roadmap, and leaving it feels like stepping into a void. My goal is not to tell you to pull your kids out tomorrow, but to help you see that education and schooling are two very different things.
Why We Chose Unschooling
- Emotional Wellbeing: Teaching children to manage their feelings, not just memorize facts for exams.
- Real-Life Skills: Focusing on practical abilities like carpentry, music, and community interaction.
- Parent-Child Bonding: Shifting from the role of lecturer to a mentor who learns alongside the child.
Navigating the Challenges
Transitioning to a 'universe-schooling' model requires unlearning our own ego. It is common to worry about social skills, academic gaps, or family pressure. In my practice, I help parents identify the triggers behind behavioral issues like academic refusal or anxiety. We apply psychological frameworks to replace the stress of competitive schooling with the curiosity of real life.
