I don't just hit play on a pre-made playlist. Before every set, I speak with the hosts to understand who is in the room. When I am behind the deck, I watch the floor constantly. If the energy shifts, I switch the tempo or grab the mic for a bit of shayari to reset the vibe. It is about reading the room, not just following a queue.
My Approach to the Console
I treat every event like a story. Whether it is a corporate gig at the Courtyard Marriott or a destination wedding in Jaipur, the goal remains the same: keep people moving. I bring my own gear, including industry-standard Pioneer decks, because I know that a reliable setup is the backbone of a smooth party. When the tech is solid, I am free to focus on the crowd.
The DJ-MC Hybrid
In my experience, a party often hits a slump if the music is good but the engagement is missing. That is why I took on the dual role of DJ and Emcee. I do not just spin tracks; I use the microphone to hype the crowd, announce the walk-ins, and keep the energy high between songs. If the flow needs a lift, you will hear me jump on the mic to stir things up with a bit of poetry or a quick call-and-response.
Playing for Diverse Crowds
I have learned that music tastes change from one event to the next.
- Weddings: I lean heavily into Bollywood, Punjabi hits, and Delhi-style wedding classics. It is about balancing the traditional tracks with high-energy remixes.
- Corporate: Here, the playlist gets more versatile. I mix English hits, retro classics, and commercial tracks to ensure everyone from executives to guests has something they enjoy.
- After-Parties: This is where I push the limits with Techno and deep house beats.
