About My Journey & Philosophy
Most people think being a DJ is just about track transitions, but that is the smallest part of the job. When I step behind the console, my goal is to read the energy in the room before the first track even drops. Whether it is a sangeet in Delhi or a destination wedding in Bali, I am not just playing music. I am looking for the heartbeat of the crowd and matching it. If the energy is dipping, I know how to pull it back up without breaking the vibe.
My journey was not a straight line. I started in 1996 as a school kid fooling around with speakers, telling my friends I was a DJ before I even owned a console. I got my real start by chance, winning a DJ competition I did not even intend to enter, which led me to perform at Space Ibiza. That moment taught me a lesson I carry to every wedding I play today, which is to stay ready because you never know when the universe is watching.
I spent a decade running Cafe Morrison in Delhi, a project that was deeply personal. It was where I learned that music is about community. I stopped focusing on just playing tracks and started focusing on why we play them. That is the spiritual side of my craft. When I am on stage, I close my eyes and ask a question, and the music gives me the answer.
This philosophy defines my sets. I do not just show up with a pre-made playlist. I show up with 28 years of experience in reading a room. I have played for the IPL and massive stadiums, but the sacred thing remains the wedding floor. I bring that same intensity, whether I am performing a solo set or mixing live percussion with the Basti Crew.
