I transform open-air venues into intimate, story-driven experiences. From lakeside ceremonies to garden receptions, see how I blend nature with church-inspired aesthetics to create something truly personal.

The layout was designed to feel open and spacious. We used a mix of round and long tables with elegant gold chairs to create different zones for guests to mingle.

The floral runner on the mirrored table was designed to look like it was cascading off the edge. The combination of lush flowers and twinkling lights made for a serene dining experience.

About this collection

For outdoor setups like this lakeside reception at Area 83, the biggest challenge is maintaining intimacy. I avoid standard, stark floodlighting. Instead, I build ambient, layered lighting—like these greenery-wrapped chandeliers—to soften the space as the sun sets. It keeps the atmosphere warm and creates a focused, cozy glow that makes a large open lawn feel like a private, inviting room.

When I approach an outdoor space, I look for the natural anchors—the trees, the lake, or the way the light hits the grass at 5 PM. For this specific project, the couple wanted a church-like aesthetic, so we focused on clean, symmetrical lines and a color palette derived from their family's traditional attire. This makes the decor feel deeply personal rather than pulled from a generic catalogue.

Why Outdoor Decor Needs Strategy

  1. Perspective Management: In open fields, guests can feel adrift. I use custom-built structures and specific seating clusters to define 'rooms' on the grass. You can see how we used the mirrored long table to anchor the dining area, which reflects the sky and adds a layer of depth to the setup.
  2. Lighting as Architecture: Since you cannot hang things from the sky, the lighting itself becomes the architecture. By using chandeliers and floor lamps rather than just perimeter floodlights, we define the vertical space, drawing the eye upward and creating a sense of enclosure.
  3. The Floor is the Foundation: A checkered dance floor on grass isn't just about the dance. It breaks up the green monotony and provides a solid visual center for the party.

Whether you are planning a garden brunch or a sunset ceremony, my process is always the same: we find out what makes your story unique—be it a specific flower, a shared memory, or a family tradition—and we build the environment around that, not the other way around.
