Hand-Painted Nature Art: Flora and Fauna Series
From backyard garden sketches to detailed animal portraits, this collection captures the vibrant life I see around me, painted with love and a bit of caffeine.
Trust the process. This is a work-in-progress shot of my acrylic macaw painting on wood, showing the layers of color being built up to create the vibrant feathers.
A short video showing the final touches being added to the acrylic macaw painting. I love working with acrylics on wood; the texture and finish are so unique.
A super quick sketch of a parrot and mangoes, done for Ugadi while my little one was napping. Even a few minutes with my sketchbook is enough to recharge my creative batteries.
After watching hundreds of cat reels, I had to paint one. This is a watercolor of a ginger cat, captured in a moment of quiet contemplation by the window.
A closer, detailed view of my watercolor painting of the ginger cat. I focused on capturing the light and the soft texture of its fur.
A watercolor painting of a bird perched among sunflowers, set against the backdrop of my own balcony garden. A vibrant piece to start the week with a bang.
Happy Easter. This video shows a quick watercolor sketch of a bunny surrounded by spring flowers, painted in my favorite sketchbook.
This floral watercolor artwork is all framed and set to go to its new home. It brings me so much joy to know my paintings will spread happiness.
A simple watercolor floral card painted for Rakhi. Handmade art is a personal way to share love and good wishes on special occasions.
A quick practice sketch of a flower market scene in mixed media on tanned paper. The colors and energy of a flower market are something I absolutely love to capture.
About Nature's Palette: Flora and Fauna
When I am not juggling code or chasing after my toddler, you will find me at my easel. I use professional-grade 300 GSM Arches cotton paper and Mijello mission watercolors for these nature pieces, ensuring every leaf, feather, and fur texture stays vivid for years. Whether it is a quick sketch from my morning tea or a detailed acrylic on wood, each piece is born from a quiet moment of observation.
Nature is my constant source of calm. In this cluster, you will find a mix of spontaneous sketchbook entries and more deliberate, layered paintings.
My Process
I approach these differently depending on my 'mom-schedule.'
- Quick Studies: Some of these, like my garden sketches, are done in 15-minute bursts while Yuvan naps. These are honest, raw, and full of energy.
- Detailed Commission Work: For larger pieces, like the elephant portraits or custom wildlife art, I slow down. I use multiple layers of pigment to build depth. If I am using acrylics, I often paint on wood panels, which gives the colors a different kind of richness compared to paper.
Materials & Care
I do not cut corners on materials because I want these to last. I stick to cold-press cotton paper for watercolors because it holds the water and pigment perfectly. Everything is shipped with archival-safe packaging, sandwiched between rigid mount-boards for paper works or custom boxed for canvases, so your art arrives in my studio's pristine condition.
If you see a style here—like the soft watercolor parrots or the textured acrylics—that you would love to have on your wall, let me know. I also take custom commissions if you have a specific animal, flower, or pet you want me to paint for you.
