Aakanksha: My Dance Journey and Life Off-Stage
This is a little glimpse into my world behind the dance moves. From desk jobs to dance floors, here is how I turned my passion into my daily life.
A candid photo from my cousin's sangeet night. Getting to choreograph and celebrate with family is one of the best parts of what I do. This is a glimpse into my wedding diaries.
A happy twirl in a beautiful gown. This is a behind-the-scenes look at one of my video shoots, capturing a moment of pure joy and movement.
It doesn't get more Bollywood than dancing to 'Desi Girl' in a saree! This is just me having fun and feeling the main character energy. This is the vibe I try to bring to all my classes.
A quiet moment with a Prateek Kuhad song. Dance isn't always about big, energetic moves. Sometimes it's about sitting down and expressing yourself through simple, heartfelt gestures.
A snapshot from one of my video shoots. I love finding beautiful outdoor spots to dance. Can you guess which performance this yellow floral outfit was for?
Another look from a past performance. This black and gold anarkali was for a semi-classical piece. I love how costumes can completely transform the mood of a dance.
A happy, casual moment captured by a friend. This is me outside the dance studio, just enjoying a nice evening in Gurgaon.
About this collection
Most people think my engineering background makes me a strict teacher, but my classes are actually the opposite. I believe dance is for everyone, not just the trained pros. Whether you are prepping for a wedding Sangeet in Bangalore or joining my online sessions from home, I break down every single step so you feel comfortable and confident, never judged.
I spent my early years as an IIT Roorkee grad staring at a laptop, but my heart was always doing a Garba step under the desk. Taking the leap from a 9-to-5 job to full-time dancing was a huge 'zor ka jhatka' of joy. My goal with every workshop is simple: to make sure you leave smiling, not stressed.
My approach to Bollywood dance classes, semi-classical routines, and folk workshops is about feeling the vibe, not chasing perfection. If we are working on a routine in a studio in Koramangala or Indiranagar, I focus on helping you nail the expressions and posture. If you are catching me online, I make sure the pace is steady enough for beginners to keep up.
I love mixing things up. One day we are doing high-energy Bollyhop to trending tracks, and the next we are practicing graceful Rajasthani or Marathi folk steps. My 'specs' might be my trademark, but my real style is being real with you. No filters, just lots of laughter and some seriously fun choreography. Reach out if you want to dance with me!
Aakanksha Doda
I’m Aakanksha, and yes, the specs are here to stay! I left my corporate life because I could not stop thinking about dance routines during meetings. Now, I spend my days helping families create fun Sangeet memories and teaching beginners how to find their groove without overthinking it.
