Our Legal Fight for Animals
We use the law as a shield to protect those who cannot speak. From handling RWA harassment cases to filing Public Interest Litigations for better animal welfare, our legal team stands by every rescuer and caregiver in Bengaluru.
This is the face of my legal initiative. Every month, I work to seek justice for animals subjected to cruelty, providing free legal aid and fighting cases in Bengaluru.
My legal work covers a wide range of issues. This is a snapshot of the active cases from one month, including Public Interest Litigations against puppy breeding, cases for elephant welfare, and defending animal welfare NGOs.
My legal interventions include guiding complainants, assisting with FIRs and legal notices, and sharing resources to empower citizens under the PCA Act and ABC Rules.
I handle numerous cruelty complaints, from harassment of feeders by RWAs and cases of poisoning or beatings to illegal breeding and institutional neglect. For cases outside Bengaluru, I connect people with their state's Animal Welfare Board.
My legal cell focuses on street and community animals in Bengaluru, engaging in legal proceedings, awareness programs, and nationwide advocacy to create lasting change.

In June, my work included pursuing 9 active legal cases, including two PILs in the High Court of Karnataka against unregulated puppy breeding and the abuse of a temple elephant.

RWA and Housing Disputes
You have the fundamental right to keep pets and feed community animals. When society management committees harass you with false circulars, lift usage restrictions, or feeder bans, you need to push back with facts. We provide support in drafting formal counter-notices by citing verified BBMP guidelines and Supreme Court rulings that protect your right to coexist with animals.
Handling Cruelty Complaints
If you see a case of poisoning, beating, or caging, documentation is your strongest tool. Video evidence, clear photos, and witness statements are vital for a police record. We do not just tell you what to do, we help you prepare a legally sound complaint for the Station House Officer. This includes identifying the correct IPC sections to ensure your complaint is taken seriously and helping you escalate the matter if the local police refuse to file an FIR.
Systemic Advocacy
Our Legal Initiative Cell (CLIC) works beyond individual cases. We file Public Interest Litigations (PILs) in the High Court of Karnataka to push for systemic reform, whether that is tackling unregulated puppy mills or protecting wildlife from exploitation. We believe in science, not fear, and our legal interventions are designed to create lasting change that benefits the entire community, not just one animal.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do you handle cases outside of Bengaluru? We primarily engage in direct legal proceedings within Bengaluru. For cases in other states, we provide guidance and link you to the appropriate State Animal Welfare Board.
What if the police refuse to register an FIR? We provide protocols for escalating non-compliance to ACP or DCP levels. If the crime is severe, we help strategize the inclusion of stronger IPC sections to ensure the case is treated as a cognizable offense.
