Our Sustainable Promise and Zero-Waste Habits

Sustainability is not just a policy for us. We are constantly finding small, meaningful ways to lower our footprint in our daily cafe operations.

I’m proud to be on a zero-waste journey. In our washrooms, we use this powdered hand soap from Bare Necessities. We just mix it with water in a reusable glass dispenser, eliminating plastic bottle waste.

About this collection

You might notice we have ditched single-use plastic soap bottles in our washrooms. Instead, we use concentrated powder from Bare Necessities that we mix with water in reusable glass dispensers, which is a small but meaningful shift towards a low-carbon footprint in our daily operations.

Sustainability is not a marketing buzzword for us. It is a messy, beautiful, ongoing experiment in our Indiranagar space. Being a zero-waste cafe requires constant vigilance, from how we source our ingredients to the small products we use throughout the venue.

We believe that real change starts with mindful, incremental steps. By partnering with local brands like Bare Necessities, we have swapped disposable plastic bottles for refillable soap sachets made from Reetha (Soapberry). It takes an extra minute to mix the powder with water, but it saves countless plastic bottles from entering the landfill over the year.

Our approach to conscious living extends across the entire cafe. You will see this reflected in our menu, which is strictly plant-based to lower our resource intensity, and in our retail nook, where we stock items from ethical, slow-fashion brands. We are far from perfect, and we do not claim to be, but we are committed to finding better ways to operate every single day. If you have suggestions or want to know more about the brands we trust, just ask any of us when you stop by for your next coffee.

I am Sarah, and I started Copper + Cloves to build a space that feels like home while treading lightly on the planet. I believe that being a cafe means taking responsibility for the waste we generate, which is why sustainability is woven into everything we do here.
