Mastering the Olympic Snatch with Precision Technique
The snatch is a test of speed, focus, and total body coordination. I break down the complexity of every pull, catch, and extension so you can safely chase your next PR without the guesswork.
Not a full-time athlete, but I still show up and lift decent numbers. Here's a power snatch, a key drill for building speed and power.
Power snatches at 80 kg for 3 reps. This variation helps develop explosive power from the floor.
Hang power snatches with the Indian flag in the background. A great exercise for improving the second pull of the snatch.
Hang snatch day. This variation isolates the top half of the lift, building power and speed in the turnover.
Hitting a 92.5 kg hang snatch. Technique, speed, and aggression all coming together.
Another hang snatch session. Repetition is the mother of skill, especially in a technical lift like the snatch.
A typical Wednesday snatch session. Working on hang power snatches to build consistency and strength.
Just another Tuesday, working on hang power snatches. The daily grind is what builds champions.
Hip snatch at 80 kg for 3 reps. This drill is excellent for teaching an aggressive and full hip extension.
Block snatches. Lifting from blocks helps overload the top portion of the pull, improving strength at the finish.
About Olympic Lifting: Mastering the Snatch
The snatch is highly technical, and one small error in your bar path or bracing ruins the entire lift. I provide async video analysis of your training, breaking down your snatch, clean, and jerk to fix your biomechanics, whether you are training at a home setup or a commercial gym.
Building a heavy, consistent snatch does not happen by accident. It happens by breaking down the movement into manageable parts. In my coaching, we focus on drilling the basics like muscle snatches, hang snatches, and block work to improve your turnover and hip extension.
My Technical Approach
I do not believe in sugarcoating your lifts. If your bracing is loose or your bar path is looped, we fix it. My programming includes:
- Asynchronous Form Analysis: You upload your lifts, and I provide feedback on your setup, extension, and receiving position.
- Drill Breakdown: We use segmented work like snatch balances and pauses at the knee to build strength where you are weakest.
- Periodized Strength Cycles: Whether you need a hypertrophy block to build muscle or a peaking block to hit a competition PR, your splits are customized to your equipment.
Nutrition Without the Fancy Supplements
We keep nutrition simple. You will not see exotic supplements on my plans. We focus on quantified macro plans using standard Indian kitchen ingredients like ghee, roti, rice, and dal. Consistency is the only secret.
Remote and In-Person Support
Whether you are training at ZeroDope in Indirapuram or working out from home, my coaching adapts to you. I provide daily check-ins (Monday to Saturday) to keep you accountable. If you are struggling with a specific movement, we adjust the volume and intensity until the technique is locked in. Let us show up and get the work done.
