Our Mission: Climbing for Every Woman
Climbing belongs to everyone, but it takes work to make that happen. We’re here to tear down the barriers—from gear access to safety fears—that keep women from the rock, whether you’re a total beginner or ready for your first outdoor festival.
Climbing should be for everyone. At our annual event, we invited local kids from Hanumanhalli to join us, sharing our gear and our passion for the sport.
The kids from Hanumanhalli, along with a friendly crag dog, exploring the boulders with us. Making climbing accessible to the local community is a core part of our mission.
A close-up of one of the young girls from the village trying climbing for the first time, with a CLAW member spotting her. It was amazing to see their pure joy and excitement.
A helping hand for a new climber. We believe everyone should have the opportunity to experience climbing, regardless of their access to resources.
Climbing is more than just climbing. It's about overcoming fear, building friendships, and connecting with yourself. This photo captures a climber topping out a boulder as the sun sets.
A powerful image showing the raw emotion of pushing through a difficult moment. Overcoming fear is a huge part of the climbing journey.
The "try-hard" face! We love capturing these moments of intense effort and determination from our Badami and Sethan events.
Another great try-hard face! This is the look of pure focus and grit as a climber pulls through a tough move.
A spotter gives a little extra support and encouragement. These moments of teamwork are what our community is all about.
The face of determination! Every climber knows this feeling of giving it your all on the rock.
About Our Mission in Action
We believe climbing is a tool for real change, which is why we bring our resources directly to those who need them. Whether we are hosting local schoolgirls in Bengal, sharing our stash of crash pads, or teaching safety drills to absolute beginners, we focus on making the outdoors a space where 'behaving' is never on the agenda. It is about giving you the gear, the safety net, and the collective noise you need to be scared, messy, and absolutely proud of every move you make.
Why We Do It
Climbing is about more than just the physical ascent; it is about reclaiming space. Growing up, many of us were told not to take up too much room or be too loud. At CLAW, we flip that script. Our mission is to create a safe, all-women environment where you can fall, laugh, and find your strength without judgment.
Breaking Barriers
We know that gear costs and lack of access are major hurdles. That is why our NGO outreach is central to what we do. From introducing village schoolgirls to their first boulder to running multi-day festivals in Hampi, Badami, and Sethan, we bridge the gap. We handle the technical rigging, provide certified gear like La Sportiva shoes and Petzl helmets, and ensure someone is always there to spot you.
What to Expect
Whether you are joining an indoor bouldering workshop or a guided outdoor rock session, our sessions are always:
- Non-Competitive: We focus on beta sharing and helping each other, not on being the fastest.
- Supportive: Expect a lot of cheering and zero 'be a lady' lectures.
- Educational: We teach fundamental skills, from tying knots to managing fear, ensuring you become a confident and self-sufficient climber.
If you are ready to be part of a community that values grit and laughter, come as you are. Chale!
