Belt Examinations and Student Achievements
Earning a new belt is not just about the color. It is the result of the discipline, the sweat, and the hours of practice my students put in every single day.
One of my dedicated students proudly displays her medals, trophies, and certificates from a recent competition. Her success is a result of her consistent effort in training.
A group photo from our recent Gymnastics Competition and Belt Examination event. I am pictured with honored guests and one of our top-performing students.
A personal moment of pride for me, being honored with a shawl by a guest at our martial arts event. It is an honor to serve my community.
I stand proudly next to a guest of honor as he addresses the students and parents at our 2025 Belt Examination ceremony.
Another view of the stage during our belt examination event, where our community leaders come to support the students.
Another one of my students is recognized for her achievements at our competition, sitting with her certificate and garland.
I observe as my young Taekwondo students line up and perform during the belt examination. Their focus and respect for the art are clear to see.
About this collection
When you see these photos, remember they are the result of months of training at our Basaveshwara Nagar centre. Whether it is Taekwondo or gymnastics, I do not believe in shortcuts. My students go through rigorous Poomsae practice, cardio, and flexibility drills before they are ever allowed on the examination mat.
The belt examination is a big day for my students and their families. It is where all the hard work we do in the park and at the academy comes together. You will see students from all backgrounds here, from 3-year-olds building confidence to adults learning combat techniques.
At Chang Lean, we follow the World Taekwondo Federation syllabus. This means there is no passing without the work. During these exams, I look for more than just physical movement. I look for the respect they have for the art, their focus during blocks and kicks, and their discipline.
We hold these events to give my students a goal to work towards. Watching them earn their certificate or receive a medal is my favourite part of the job. It proves that if you are willing to show up and practice, you can achieve anything. If you want to start this journey, whether for fitness or learning a new skill, I am here to help you get there.
Chang Lean
I am Giri Gowda, and I started this journey in 2013. I am a farmer's son, and my life’s achievement is teaching martial arts and discipline. I treat every student like family and help everyone from toddlers to adults find their strength.
